DIEHARDS - NFL WEEK 2 PROP BET SLATE

Drew Phelps, FootballDiehards.com

SINGLE PROP SEASON RECORD: 17-23
SGP SPECIAL SEASON RECORD: 2-5

DOLPHINS @ RAVENS (1:00pm ET)

RAVENS QB LAMAR JACKSON UNDER 52.5 RUSHING YARDS (-115)

This is more of a gut call. Lamar was in contract negotiations all off-season and it did not get resolved. While he is not going to sabotage the team, I feel like he isn't going to put his body in jeopardy until he's got that guaranteed contract. He rushed the ball just six times for 17 yards in week one against the Jets. I would not be surprised in the least if he puts up a similar number in Week 2.

DOLPHINS WR TYREEK HILL OVER 67.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-125)

The Ravens are beat up all over the ball. Their secondary may be one of the weakest spots on the team and they have to face the combo of Hill and Waddle. Marlon Humphrey is coming off of a groin injury, didn't practice Friday. Marcus Peters hasn't played a game since 2020, Brandon Stephens missed the last two practices with a quad and Kyle Fuller is out of the year. I think he's in store for a big game.

PANTHERS @ GIANTS (1:00pm ET)

GIANTS DANIEL JONES OVER 23.5 RUSHING YARDS (-115)

I don't love this game for props. I do like Daniel Jones running the ball because it is a thing. The runs are not just scrambles, they are calling designed runs for the guy. I wasn't sure if Daboll would continue what Joe Judge was doing last season but it looks like it with six carries for 25 yards in Week 1. I mean you see how much Josh Allen runs the ball in Buffalo, Jones will be involved in the running game.

COMMANDERS @ LIONS (1:00pm ET)

LIONS WR AMON-RA ST. BROWN OVER 64.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-115)

You will see a common thread in my articles, the speed/slot receiver against the Commanders defense will be a fantastic play each week. You saw Christian Kirk light up this secondary in Week 1 and St. Brown is an even better version. He was targeted 12 times in Week 1 and caught eight of them. Washington's slot corner Benjamin St-Juste is just not good.

COMMANDERS RB ANTONIO GIBSON OVER 21.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-115)

You have to take advantage of Gibson's usage while Brian Robinson is still sidelined. He touched the ball 21 times in Week 1 and seven of those were catches for 72 yards. The Eagles running backs caught four balls for 21 yards in Week 1 against this defense, I think he can easily do that and more this week.

BUCCANEERS @ SAINTS (1:00pm ET)

BUCCANEERS RB LEONARD FOURNETTE OVER 14.5 RUSH ATTEMPTS (-115)

BUCCANEERS RB LEONARD FOURNETTE OVER 60.5 RUSHING YARDS (-115)

I was all about Fournette receiving props heading into Week 1 but it is obvious that they have a different plan for him this season. He rushed the ball 21 times in Week 1 against the Cowboys and pounded out 127 yards on the ground. Cordarrelle Patterson rushed the ball 22 times against this Saints team in Week 1 for 120 yards and a score. There is no reason to think that the Bucs will change strategies.

SAINTS WR JARVIS LANDRY OVER 47.5 RECEIVING YARDS (+100)

While we all know the kind of talent that Landry has, it seemed like his performance in Week 1 came out of nowhere. I feel like no one was talking about him this season. It's obvious that Jameis and Jarvis have already established a connection with seven catches on nine targets in Week 1. The odds are a nice bonus to this prop bet.

COLTS @ JAGUARS (1:00pm ET)

JAGUARS WR CHRISTIAN KIRK OVER 58.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-115)

I'm surprised this number did not go up more after his Week 1 performance in Washington. He will continue to get peppered with targets in this offense. He caught six balls on 12 targets for 117 yards against a lackluster Commanders secondary. While the Colts are a more formidable opponent, this number is just entirely too low for the amount of volume he'll see in this game.

JAGUARS DE TRAVON WALKER OVER 0.75 SACKS (+240)

The number one overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft made an impression in his first game with a sack against Carson Wentz. Walker faces a less mobile Matt Ryan in Week 2 in his debut in front of the home crowd in Jacksonville. The Colts offensive line allowed two sacks of Ryan in Week 1 against the Texans.

PATRIOTS @ STEELERS (1:00pm ET)

STEELERS WR CHASE CLAYPOOL OVER 42.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-120)

Yea, I know Chase had an awful Week 1 game against the Bengals. Despite only having 18 receiving yards, he was targeted six times. The Patriots secondary was ranked near the bottom heading into the 2022 season by most every major publication and it showed in Week 1 against the Dolphins. Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle lit them up for 165 yards on 12 catches. I think he wakes up in Week 2.

JETS @ BROWNS (1:00pm ET)

JETS RB MICHAEL CARTER OVER 19.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-115)

I don't think anyone expected Carter to start the season with seven catches on nine targets. Joe Flacco will start his second game and he's captain checkdown. This seems like one of the easiest bets on the board even with Breece Hall in the mix. Especially with that fierce pass rush of the Browns, Flacco will need to dump it off a lot in this game.

FALCONS @ RAMS (4:05pm ET)

FALCONS QB MARCUS MARIOTA OVER 32.5 RUSHING YARDS (-115)

Mariota did exactly what I thought he'd do in Week 1 with 12 carries for 72 yards. I don't see the game plan changing in Week 2 against this Rams team. The Falcons offense will only move if he keeps it moving with his legs. The Rams allowed Josh Allen to rush for 56 yards in that opening night game. The number has gone up but not enough for me to stay away.

FALCONS TE KYLE PITTS OVER 45.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-115)

Pitts was one of the biggest disappointments of Week 1. I feel like a big course correction is in play for the versatile tight end. After all the talk about him not being involved enough, Mariota will be looking his way a lot in Week 2. Jalen Ramsey will be all over Drake London which should open things up for Pitts to have more production.

SEAHAWKS @ 49ERS (4:05pm ET)

49ERS QB TREY LANCE OVER 44.5 RUSHING YARDS (-115)

Despite playing through a monsoon, Lance went over his rushing prop with ease in Week 1. He should be able to do it once again in Week 1 against a pretty average Seattle defense. The weather is expected to be perfect in San Francisco on Sunday. The rushing ability of Lance is what draws us to him every single week in DFS and Fantasy. The passing will be hit or miss with Trey but the running will be there every week.

49ERS WR JAUAN JENNINGS OVER 21.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-120)

You probably did not expect me to put a Jennings prop in here over top of guys like Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk but here we are. Jennings caught four balls on six targets for 62 yards in monsoon-like conditions against the Bears in Week 1. You have to think that Lance likes Jennings because of his large size compared to his counterparts. I love this prop even more if George Kittle does not suit up this weekend.

BENGALS @ COWBOYS (4:25pm ET)

COWBOYS CEEDEE LAMB OVER 4.5 RECEPTIONS (+100)

You wouldn't think I'd like any of the passing related props with Cooper Rush starting for Dallas but he is going to throw all the targets he can at Lamb in this game. In the one game that Rush started for the Cowboys in 2021, Lamb had eight catches for 112 yards in a win over the Vikings in Minnesota.

BENGALS RB JOE MIXON OVER 19.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-115)
BENGALS RB JOE MIXON OVER 17.5 RUSHING ATTEMPTS (-125)

These numbers are just too damn low. Joe Mixon debuted in 2022 with 27 carries for 82 yards and seven catches on nine targets for 63 yards against the Steelers. He touched the ball 34 times and while I don't see 30+ touches every single game, I think 25-28 per game is more than reasonable. The Cowboys allowed Leonard Fournette to punish them on the ground for 127 yards.

TEXANS @ BRONCOS (4:25pm ET)

BRONCOS RB JAVONTE WILLIAMS 3.5 RECEPTIONS (+120)

BRONCOS RB JAVONTE WILLIAMS 23.5 RECEIVING YARDS (-115)

Ok, there is no way that Javonte is going to get 12 targets for 11 catches every week, but if he got even half of that I'd be a happy camper. It is obvious that the Broncos want to get him involved in lots of ways as he touched the ball 18 times in Week 1. Melvin Gordon is going to have a role but not as much in the passing game as Javonte.

CARDINALS @ RAIDERS (4:25pm ET)

RAIDERS WR DAVANTE ADAMS OVER 7.5 RECEPTIONS (-110)

Did you watch what happened in Week 1? Davante and his old college teammate tried to connect 17 times but he only caught 10 of those pass attempts. Only 10 catches in his debut for the Raiders and he gets an easier secondary in Week 2. The Cardinals were absolutely lit up by the Chiefs in Week 1 and I fully expect more of the same with Carr and Adams.

CARDINALS TE ZACH ERTZ OVER 4.5 RECEPTIONS (+110)

Ertz only caught two balls on four targets in Week 1 but you have to remember that he barely got on the field coming off of an injury. Kyler and Zach had a great connection in 2021, he caught five or more balls in his last five regular season games. The Raiders allowed Gerald Everett to catch three balls for 54 yards in Week 1 and we know Ertz is a superior option in the Arizona offense.
