DRAFTKINGS DFS CASH PICKS - WEEK 8

QUARTERBACK
TOP PLAY

Tua Tagovailoa, MIA ($6200)
Opportunity cost is next to nothing at the QB position this week, so there’s really no reason to pay up at the position for cash (GPP, go nuts). Tua gets the nuts matchup against Detroit. The Lions have allowed 32.3 PPG while also giving up the fifth most FPPG to QBs and the fourth-highest YPA. They’ve only amassed nine sacks in six games, and Tua with a clean pocket is dangerous with Tyreek and Waddle at his disposal. Mike Gesicki has re-entered the TE1 conversation as well.

Other options - Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray

Mid-tier options - Kirk Cousins, Derek Carr

VALUE PLAY

Sam Ehlinger, IND ($4000)
Ehlinger has replaced Matt Ryan as the Colts’ starting QB. You’re not expecting a top-12 performance from him this week, but at the minimum 4k he doesn’t need to do near that to pay off his tag. He also allows you carte blanche on pretty much whatever skill position players you want. The skillset and matchup make it worth it anyway, as Washington has allowed the 11th most FPPG to QBs and the most TD passes, and Ehlinger is a known scrambling QB which raises his floor.

Other options - Geno Smith, Daniel Jones, Justin Fields

RUNNING BACK
TOP PLAY

Derrick Henry, TEN ($8400)
Henry keeps defying the critics and has shown no signs at all of slowing down for the Titans, who have won four straight games. Henry has 25+ touches in the those four contests, and 30 or more in the last two. This week he gets the nuts matchup against Houston, who have allowed 5.3 YPC and the most FPPG to opposing RBs. If you go Ehlinger at QB, Henry is a must in cash.

Other options - Saquon Barkley, Jonathan Taylor, Josh Jacobs, Alvin Kamara

Mid-tier options - Kenneth Walker, Rhamondre Stevenson, Dameon Pierce

VALUE PLAY

Tony Pollard, DAL ($6100)

Ezekiel Elliott has missed two straight practices and is not expected to play this Sunday against the Bears. If that’s the case, it’s full steam ahead on Pollard who I currently have as my overall RB2 for week 8. Already a lock for 10-12 touches per game, we could easily see that double as Dallas runs the ball at the eighth highest rate (could change with Dak back). Pollard’s 6.2 yards per touch are fourth in the NFL among running backs. He’s the lock of the week if Zeke sits.

Other options - Raheem Mostert, Darrell Henderson

WIDE RECEIVER
TOP PLAY

Tyreek Hill, MIA ($8500)

Tyreek currently leads the NFL in targets, receptions, receiving yards, is second in air yards, and now gets a date with a Lions team that has no chance of stopping him. Detroit has allowed 32.3 points per game and the tenth most FPPG to WRs while allowing 7.7 YPA (second most). I have Hill as the overall WR1 this week and he’s still priced over $1000 less than Cooper Kupp (who has a far tougher matchup).

Other options - Cooper Kupp, Justin Jefferson, Davante Adams, DeAndre Hopkins

Mid-tier options - Ceedee Lamb, Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jaylen Waddle, Tyler Lockett, Chris Olave

VALUE PLAY

DJ Moore, CAR ($5300)
Moore came to play last Sunday with an improbable 7-69-1 line on ten targets, and he and PJ Walker showed some serious chemistry in that one. Moore’s price only rose $400 after that outburst, and he’s just too talented to be this cheap. Throw in a matchup against the Falcons, who have allowed the most FPPG to opposing WRs, and Moore will be quite popular in DFS lineups this week.

Other options - Brandin Cooks, Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Darnell Mooney, WanDale Robinson, Marquis Goodwin

TIGHT END

TOP PLAY

NONE
George Kittle and Dallas Goedert are fine for GPP, but there is no need to spend any more than necessary at the TE position in cash this week.

VALUE PLAY

Noah Fant, SEA ($2800)
Fant is a scary proposition, as he’s played behind both Will Dissly and Colby Parkinson for a good chunk of this season. However, last week we saw him log a 73% snap share which is significant (even though Dissly and Parkinson still posted higher fantasy scores). The price is right here on Fant, who may see added usage with DK Metcalf unlikely to go, and $2800 against the Giants who have allowed the seventh most FPPG to TEs is just fine for a cash punt. It helps that he’s currently showing the highest ownership as well.

Other options - Kyle Pitts, Pat Frieirmuth, Dalton Schultz, Foster Moreau (if no Waller)

TOP FIVE DEFENSES FOR CASH
New England Patriots ($3000)
Washington Commanders ($2600 - move to top of list if you don’t play Ehlinger or Taylor)
Philadelphia Eagles ($3900)
San Francisco 49ers ($3100)
Dallas Cowboys ($4000)
