DRAFTKINGS DFS CASH GAME PICKS - WEEK 13

QUARTERBACK

TOP PLAY

Jalen Hurts, PHI ($7900)

The premier matchup of the week is Philly-San Fran in a potential NFC Championship Game preview. I don’t really think it’s the week you need to pay up for the quarterback position in cash, but if you are Hurts would be the guy again. His per game average is over three points higher than the next highest QB on the slate, and Hurts’ running ability gives him a unique fantasy floor, even in a tough matchup (which this certainly qualifies).

Other options - Tua Tagovailoa

Mid-tier options - Sam Howell, Brock Purdy

VALUE PLAY

Brock Purdy, SF ($6100)

The highest projected ownership is going to Hurts’ opponent, Brock Purdy, and it’s pretty easy to see why. We’ve seen what Purdy looks like with a full arsenal of healthy players, and he’s thrown for multiple TD passes in five games already this season. Philadelphia is a complete pass-funnel defense, allowing the second most FPPG to opposing QBs along with the fourth highest YPA.

Other options - Russell Wilson, Baker Mayfield, Kenny Pickett

RUNNING BACK

TOP PLAY

Christian McCaffrey, SF ($9200)

Yes, I know I mentioned that Philly is a pass-funnel defense (they’ve allowed the fewest FPPG to RBs in the league), but the usual rules do not apply to Christian McCaffrey. CMC is fresh off eviscerating a strong Seattle front for 33.9 DK points, and his 82% snap share reflects one of the NFL’s true bellcow roles. McCaffrey has 56 RZ touches which leads all RBs, and he’s also second among the position in receptions with 48 and second in targets with 58. He’s too cheap. Play him.

Other options - Alvin Kamara

Mid-tier options - Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, Breece Hall, Rachaad White, Rhamondre Stevenson

VALUE PLAY

Zack Moss, IND ($4600)

DraftKings priced Zack Moss before the Jonathan Taylor injury news hit, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen a higher projected ownership on any one player yet this year. When Taylor missed the beginning of the season, Moss shined, averaging 24 touches and 107 YPG. When Taylor returned in week 5 against these same Titans, Moss still crushed them for 195 all-purpose yards and two TDs. Make no mistake, this is as free a square as it gets, so don’t be on the outside looking in.

Other options - Javonte Williams, Jerome Ford, Jaylen Warren, Najee Harris

WIDE RECEIVER

TOP PLAY

Tyreek Hill, MIA ($9600)

Even as the most expensive skill player on the slate, Tyreek Hill should be given the highest “stud” priority, even over McCaffrey. Hill’s historic year has featured double-digit targets in all but three games, and he’s scored at least one TD in all but two (which is utterly ridiculous). He should have no issue keeping it going against Washington who get killed by the pass every game. They’ve allowed the second most FPPG and the highest YPC to the position, and now don’t have an effective pass rush any longer either.

Other options - Keenan Allen, AJ Brown, Amon-Ra St. Brown

Mid-tier options - Jaylen Waddle, Tank Dell, Brandon Aiyuk, Michael Pittman, Nico Collins

VALUE PLAY

Terry McLaurin, WAS ($5500)

??Terry McLaurin seems to be an evergreen entry to these articles of mine, but that’s more of an indication of DraftKings’ refusal to price him up. Despite the return (and strong game) of Curtis Samuel, McLaurin still received 11 targets, which brings his total up to 85 (good for 15th in the league). “Scary Terry” also leads the entire league in routes run and is top 20 in air yards. Miami has allowed the 10th-most FPPG to opposing WRs, and Washington figures to be in a negative game script for most of this one.

Other options - Deebo Samuel, Garrett Wilson, Cortland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy, Diontae Johnson, Demario Douglas

TIGHT END

TOP PLAY

NONE

George Kittle is an elite GPP play against Philly, but opportunity cost prohibits him having any real value for cash. It’s best to look in the sub-5k range.

VALUE PLAY

David Njoku, CLE ($4100)

I had expected to write up Pat Friermuth here, but his price jumped from $2,900 to $4,300 after his big week against Cincinnati. Meanwhile, David Njoku’s price has remained static despite receiving nine more targets in Week 12. That marks the fifth game out of the last six in which Njoku has gotten at least eight targets, and he’s scored double-digit DK points in all six. The Rams have allowed the seventh-most FPPG to opposing TEs, setting the tight end up for continued success. With Trey McBride banged up heading into this week, it’s easy to save the $800 for Njoku.

Other options - Trey McBride, Logan Thomas, Juwan Johnson, Cade Otton, Brevin Jordan
