Jahmyr Gibbs 2023 Outlook
Welcome to the NFL, Jahmyr Gibbs. Go ahead and show us your best Barry Sanders impression. The Detroit Lions maneuvered into the No. 12 overall pick and snapped up Gibbs, the former Georgia Tech and Alabama stud, as the second running back of the NFL draft. Then the Lions dealt former starting running back D’Andre Swift to the Philadelphia Eagles, solidifying Gibbs as the front-runner for the starting job. Gibbs has top-end speed and acceleration, gets away from tacklers and is a weapon in the passing game. He’s sure to infuse even more explosiveness into a Detroit offense that has been improving in recent years. If you’re not a Lions fan, you don’t need to worry about whether they could have gotten him with a later pick. Just worry about his ADP entering your fantasy draft, because he is definitely a viable contributor as a rookie. The Lions’ running back room is entirely remade. Not only is Swift gone, but Jamaal Williams and Justin Jackson have moved on as well. Detroit signed David Montgomery, who figures to share some carries with Gibbs, and also selected productive rusher Mohamed Ibrahim of Minnesota.
