Logan Thomas 2022 Outlook
Thomas suffered a torn ACL in Week 13 last year. He was immediately placed on injured reserve for the second time last season after missing a noticeable amount of time earlier in the season with a hamstring injury. Thomas, during a local radio appearance in late April, told listeners he was a little ahead of schedule in his recovery knee surgery. He also said that he's shooting for Week 1 to be ready to play. As DKNation.com suggested, if Thomas is ready to go to start the season, he should provide new starting quarterback Carson Wentz a safety valve in the middle of the field. Despite missing multiple games last season, he was productive in the games he did play in. When he played a full 16 games in 2020, Thomas produced 72 receptions (109 targets) for 670 yards and six touchdowns. He's more than capable of delivering top-10 production if health and ready to roll to open the season. But because of the uncertainty about the timing of his return, those in leagues with rosters deep enough to give managers flexibility will be able to snag Thomas as a TE2 who has the ability (and who will eventually have the role) to emerge as a TE1 once he's fully up to speed.
Logan Thomas 2021 Outlook
Thomas had a breakout campaign in 2020, and as CBSSports.com suggested, hopefully he can play at a high level once again this year. Thomas finished last season tied for the No. 3 PPR tight end, and he scored at least 12 PPR points in eight games, including three of his final four outings of the year. But it was a slow start. According to SI.com's Michael Fabiano, Thomas averaged 5.6 targets and three catches over his first 10 games. His 79 fantasy points in that time ranked him 17th among tight ends. In his final six games, however, Thomas averaged nine targets and seven catches. Remember, we're talking about a guy who, despite being undrafted in 99 percent of leagues, saw 110 targets last season. According to FantasyPros.com, that's the 45th-highest number among tight ends over the last 10 years. Hopefully, Thomas can continue to be a valuable target for new quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, and we'll see how newcomer Curtis Samuel might impact Thomas’ workload. Still, at a position where it's hard to find consistent week-to-week production (outside the top tier), Thomas should be drafted with a mid-round pick in all formats, with his value even slightly higher in PPR leagues.
