(DraftKings Main Slate)

Week 5

Quarterbacks

Jared Goff @ Vikings ($5,300)

It is a stark contrast going from the talent Jared Goff had with the Rams his whole career, to what he is working with now in Detroit. From a fantasy angle it sometimes works out being on a bad team. The Lions are always playing from behind in negative game scripts, forcing Goff to dink and dunk. With a line having the Lions as +9 road dogs, and a spread around 50, Goff should be able to throw plenty. If he can get us 20ish DK points he’s fine at cost. Using him “naked” (alone) is fine, as their is no clear cut beneficiary outside of T.J. Hockenson who is Questionable and has come back to Earth.

Taylor Heinicke vs. Saints ($5,900)

We are going right back to the Taylor Heinicke wagon week 5, even though he is priced up on DraftKings. He’ll get a Saints secondary at home that Daniel Jones just threw for over 400 yards against. J.D. McKissic refers to him as “Baby Russell Wilson” for perspective on his mobility. That mobility also gives us rushing equity that we crave from our DFS QB’s. Pairing him with Terry McLaurin ($7,400) and/or Curtis Samuel ($3,000) seems to be the play.

Running Backs

Leonard Fournette vs. Dolphins ($5,200)

Leonard Fournette will take on a Miami Dolphins front seven this week that are 22nd in rush defense DVOA. Fournette is the clear work horse for Tom Brady as he tallied 23 touches week 4 in a road win at New England. The Buccaneers are a big favorite (-10) and could deploy a heavy rushing attack. I expect Uncle Lenny to reach pay dirt this week and i’ll have a ton of exposure based on all of the positive variables that include price, opportunity, matchup.

Damien Williams @ Raiders ($5,600)

David Montgomery will miss at-least four games with a knee injury, turning an already flat offense into an even worse one. Damien Williams and rookie Khalil Herbert will be forced to manage the load. Williams had 10 touches week four totaling 15 DK Fantasy Points as he was also used in the passing game. He’ll get a Raiders team that has allowed the sixth-most fantasy points per game to running backs. Anticipate 15-20 touches for Williams.

Wide Receivers

Kadarius Toney @ Cowboys ($4,000)

Despite the injuries to Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton, Daniel Jones was still able to throw for over 400 yards week four against the Saints and rookie Kadarius Toney was a recipient. Toney led the Giants in targets (9) catching six for 78 yards. The Cowboys have allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers.

Laviska Shenault vs. Titans ($4,800)

D.J. Chark has landed on injured reserve with a fractured ankle, and Laviska Shenault will be asked to pick up the usage in his absence. Shenault caught six of his seven targets for 99 yards in the 24-21 road loss last Thursday night, as his rapport with Trevor Lawrence quickly develops. He’ll get a Titans secondary that has allowed the second most fantasy points to wide receivers. I’ll be firing up a TON of Laviska Shenault week five.

Tight Ends

C.J. Uzomah vs. Packers ($3,000)

C.J. Uzomah caught 5-of-6 targets for 95 yards, and two touchdowns week four in a comeback win against the Jaguars. Tyler Boys, Ja’Mar Chase, and Tee Higgins will draw plenty of attention, which will allow the veteran to roam free. The upside is clearly there, but unable to be on display due to injuries in recent years. He’s too cheap. Fire him up in cash games, and tournaments.

Zach Ertz @ Panthers ($3,400)

For a moment it appeared that the long tenure of Zach Ertz in Philadelphia would be ending, and Dallas Goedert would be emerging as the clear cut tight end. Not so fast. Zach Ertz has caught 10-of-15 targets over the last two weeks becoming a safety blanket for Jalen Hurts. He’s been fantasy football’s TE 6 over that span. It wasn’t that long ago, Ertz was a top-5 tight end in the NFL.

Defenses/Special Teams

Cardinals vs. 49ers ($2,900)
