Week 16

(DraftKings Main Slate)

Quarterbacks

Daniel Jones @ Vikings ($5,600)

Here we are. Week 16 of the NFL season and I am advocating for Daniel Jones. There are logical reasons. Jones comes in at a great cost, will face a porous Vikings secondary, and he will give us some added rushing equity carrying the ball. The Giants have an implied team total of 22, which also bodes well for Saquon Barkley. Stacking Jones with Darius Slayton and/or Richie James would be the avenue. This stack also allows us to spend at running back.

Jared Goff @ Panthers ($5,400)

The Lions have a 31% chance at making the playoffs. A Jaw dropping notion, yet in line with some of the curve balls we have been dealt this year. Jared Goff has looked like the number one pick that the Rams hoped to see as he has thrown for 330+ yards in two of his last three games. He has a sound running game duo, and a very good passing corp in Amon Ra-St. Brown, DJ Chark, and Jameson Williams. The Lions are hungry, and their offense will allow us to eat on the cheap.

Running Backs

J.K. Dobbins vs. Falcons ($5,800)

Have you seen J.K. Dobbins run the football? He is good, and appears to have massive upside on a team that pounds the rock. He also wears the same number, and stature of Ray Rice. Who, for a time in our lives, was elite. Dobbins has rushed for 120+ yards in back to back games as the Ravens ease him back from injured reserve. Impressive, considering he is only playing around half the snaps. He’ll get a Falcons run defense that has allowed on average 155 yards a game.

Jerick McKinnon vs. Seahawks ($5,900)

Jerick McKinnon has averaged 34+ fantasy points in back to back games, and all of a sudden he is Patrick Mahomes favorite target. I had to make sure I am not in the twilight, and the year isn’t 2014. That would
Mean Patrick Mahomes was a shaky Texas Tech QB, and McKinnon was going to be the next Adrian Peterson with the Vikings. Isiah Pacheco is still the “lead” back, and McKinnon is the pass catcher. This could be considered chasing points, but not when he is paired with the best QB in the NFL. His upside and cost make him a Crate play.

Wide Receivers

Richie James @ Vikings ($3,800)

I must say, when I typed Richie James, my brain immediately thought about Rick James, and the song Super Freak. Richie and Rick are NOT related. However, I have touted Daniel Jones, and Richie James has become the favorite target next to Darius Slayton. Despite the Giants disaster scene at wide receiver in 2022, they are very much in the thick of things. I’ll take my chances on a guy named Rick James against the 31st ranked Minnesota Vikings pass defense.

Treylon Burks vs. Texans ($4,600)
Oh baby! We may see Treylon Burks this week permitting he is good to go after concussion protocol. Ryan Tannehill may need surgery, allowing the world to see more of Malik Willis. We could be seeing the Willis-Burks connection for years to come. Prior to his concussion, Burks was the center piece of the Titans abysmal passing game. That said, the kid is legit and there is no better team to pick on then the Texans.

Tight Ends

Chig Okonkwo vs. Texans ($3,500)

I mentioned the Titans passing game being abysmal when discussing Treylon Burks. When you have Derrick Henry, the air attack can take the back burner. Chig Okonkwo has 16 targets over the last three weeks and should continue to provide sufficient fantasy numbers. And by sufficient, I mean good enough. The rule of thumb remains. We either pay for Travis Kelce, or we punt the position.

Juwan Johnson @ Browns ($3,800)

Juwan Johnson has solidified a role in the Saints passing game recently. Hauling in seven touchdowns so far this season, and averaging a shade over nine FPTS/Game. Andy Dalton has leaned on Johnson heavily underneath to serve as a safety blanket. The stability appears to be there, and so does the upside.

Defense/Special Teams

Eagles @ Cowboys ($2,200)
