Week 6: Digging In The Crates

DraftKings Main Slate (11 Games)

Quarterbacks

Baker Mayfield vs. Lions ($5,400)

Baker Mayfield has found a new identity in Tampa Bay as he’s thrown eight touchdowns, and only picks so far this season. It helps when you have Mike Evans, and Chris Godwin at your disposal. Mayfield was the No. 6 fantasy football quarterback in Week 4, when he threw for 246 yards and three scores in a win over the Saints. From a RAW FPT angle, Mayfield is projected to score the eighth most, behind Kirk Cousins. That being said, it may be a week to spend a TAD more for the likes of Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford, or Trevor Lawrence.

Gardner Minshew @ Jaguars ($4,900)

Gun slinging Gardner Minshew will replace Anthony Richardson as the Colts quarterback, and the show will continue in Jacksonville, at his old stomping grounds. His sub $5,000 price tag will allow us to pay up anywhere we want. The Jaguars have surrendered the sixth-most Fantasy points to opposing QBs so far this season. Stacking Minshew with Michael Pittman will be an avenue i’ll travel this week, with Jaguars run backs. Again, spend just a tad more at QB this week feels safe, with much more upside.

Running Backs

Rachaad White vs. Lions ($5,500)

Baker Mayfield found the crate sheet this week, so it only makes sense to add another highly involved player on the Bucs offense. Rachaad White has had atleast 17 touches every game this season, and a staple within the passing game. White has rushed for a team-leading 206 yards on 63 attempts (51.5 yards per game) while scoring one touchdown. The allure is the the receptions he’ll have on Draftkings. He has been largely inefficient as a rusher, but the volume has been there, and will remain. He is a fine Crate option, if we are paying up at QB, WR, and TE.

D’Andre Swift @ Jets ($6,100)

We aren’t getting much value that stands out in projections this week at running back, but the 6 K range is loaded and D’Andre Swift has been a fixture on arguably the best offense in the NFL. Swift has had at-least 17 touches in his last four games, regardless of how the game script has gone. He averages 5.7 yards per carry (fourth in NFL). The Eagles are seven point favorites, against a Jets defense that has been pretty good against the run. This is a case, like White, where we are paying for volume/opportunity.

Wide Receiver

Josh Downs @ Jaguars ($4,100)

Gardner Minshew made the Crate sheet this week, and we know he’ll be slinging. Michael Pittman is firmly in play, but Josh Downs is over $2,000 cheaper on DraftKings. His range of outcome seems a bit unpredictable, but has shown a little bit of promise dropping 15 FPTS against the Titans last week. Trevor Lawrence and company are going to be sharp plays, making a Colts run-back a near priority. Downs may be the best salary saver on the week.

Christian Kirk vs. Colts ($5,400)

Christian Kirk was over shadowed coming into the 2023 season by Calvin Ridley, but the wideout corps seems to fit nicely in Trevor Lawrence’s offense. It is Crowded, but there has been enough offense to go around. Kirk is a discount this week and actually carrying a higher projection. He’s caught 14-of-20 targets over the last two weeks, putting in that PPR volume. Next to Lawrence, and Travis Etienne, Christian Kirk is my favorite Jags play.

Tight Ends

Kyle Pitts vs. Commanders ($3,500)

Don’t look now but the Falcons have decided to feed generational talent Kyle Pitts the football. Pitts caught 7-of-11 targets last week for 87 yards. Maybe it was a fluke, or maybe the Falcons brass wants to see him featured more often. Plain and simple, he’s too cheap and next to Travis Kelce, the most talented Tight End in the NFL. I refuse to let him swim in the sea of mediocrity just yet.

Logan Thomas @ Falcons ($3,500)

Welcome back old friend! Logan Thomas showed up in a big way Week 5, catching 9-of-11 targets for 77 yards. Sam Howell has found a safety valve as he settles in to his first season as a starter. Dalton Schultz ate the Falcons alive last week, exposing a weakness in what has been a stout Atlanta secondary. Love the price here, and we are going to need salary relief this week.

Defense/Special Teams

Lions @ Bucs $2,700
