Week 8: Digging In The Crates

DraftKings Main Slate (13 Games)

Quarterbacks

Desmond Ridder @ Titans ($5,100)

Where is the love for Desmond Ridder?!? He’s had 20 or more FPTS in three games this season, as he is keeping the Falcons in contention early this season. The weapons are there with Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Bijan Robinson.

(Atlanta No. 1 wide receiver Drake London’s (76.0 PFF receiving grade) 80.0% contested catch rate on 15-plus-yard targets ranks No. 3 among 31 NFL wide receivers with at least 40 such receiving snaps. Tight end Kyle Pitts (71.3 PFF receiving grade) 15 targets 15-plus yards downfield rank No. 1 among 23 NFL tight ends with at least 25 such receiving snaps and his associated 4.22 YPRR rank No. 2. (Per PFF)

This is good stuff in general, but even better news against a Titans team that has been susceptible through the air this season. He’s simply too cheap, and so are his weapons. We need cap space this week for CMC, and high dollar WR’s.

Joe Burrow @ 49ers ($6,000)

We have seen small upside flashes this season of Joe Burrow as he deals with his calf issue. At least the issue isn’t his right arm. Kirk Cousins was able to throw for over 300 yards against the Niners last week in an upset. The weapons are in place, if Joey B can resemble what Cousins did. The game script indicates that the Bengals will be trailing, forcing Burrow to sling. The Bye Week has allowed him more time to recuperate. This is a big week for the 3-3 Bengals, and I will be playing Burrow with JaMarr Chase. Nobody is going to own Burrow this week.

Running Backs

Kareem Hunt @ Seahawks ($5,200)

First Nick Chubb, then Jerome Ford, now Kareem Hunt? YUP. The same guy who led the league in rushing a couple seasons ago in Kansas City. The last two weeks he has been efficient scoring three touchdowns as the Browns deal with injuries on offense. Hunt will take on the majority of the snaps this week at RB, and has always been a fixture in the passing game. He is just too cheap for the opportunity.

Breece Hall @ Giants ($5,900)

In spite of the Dalvin Cook addition this season, the Jets knew their guy would be Breece Hall to lead the back field. Hall has 42 touches over the last two weeks, averaging a shade over 25 FPTS in that clip. He’ll essentially have a home game against the Giants who’s run defense, has allowed 5.01 yards/carry (29th in the league) and given up 8 rushes of 20+ yards (30th). Hall has also had at-least three receptions in as many games. He may be my favorite running back on the slate.

Wide Receivers

Jordan Addison @ Packers ($5,700)

There is a temporary sheriff in Minnesota with Justin Jefferson sidelined, and his name is Jordan Addison. He was drafted as an immediate replacement for the departed Adam Thielen, and will now be leaned on to carry the receiving game temporarily. Addison is coming off a 34 FPT day against the 49ers, hauling in 7-of-10 targets. The Packers better hope CB Jaire Alexander returns from his injury, or the rookie is going to eat that secondary alive.

Zay Flowers @ Cardinals ($5,600)

Lamar Jackson is the top overall QB on the main slate Week 8, so it seems only fair to pair him with the rookie out of Boston College. The Ravens new offense has been going to the air much more, and Zay Flowers has been the center point. The 237.6 yards per game the Cardinals are giving up through the air makes them the NFL’s 23rd-ranked pass defense. His floor is safe, and the touchdowns are coming. Meaning, his ceiling has yet to be reached. Love the price point, and I love the matchup.

Tight Ends

Dallas Goedert @ Commanders ($4,600)

The range of outcome is between eight, and twenty eight points this week, as Dallas Goedert will look to build off last week’s 5/77/1 game. Jalen Hurts is right up there this week in terms of projections with Lamar Jackson. It seems fit to to use Goedert with Hurts and save a couple bucks on a stack. For perspective, he is nearly $4,000 less than Travis Kelce. That is a large gap, and deservingly so. Kelce has to drop 30 to pay that salary off. Any way we carve it, Goedert is a Top-5 option this week.

Dalton Schultz @ Panthers ($3,700)

If you have watched rookie C.J. Stroud this season, then you’ll know that he has been impressive in his rookie season. In large part with the help of Nico Collins, and over the last three games, Dalton Schultz. The Tight End has atleast 13 FPTS, and a touchdown in three straight games. We are seeing flashes of the guy that Dak Prescott leaned on in Dallas. Stacking Stroud with Collins-Schultz is beautiful salary saver this week.

Defense/Special Teams

Falcons @ Titans ($2,900)
