Dak Prescott 2023 Outlook
Prescott threw multiple interceptions in five of his last nine starts and led the NFL with a career-high 15 INTs in 2022, not including his two picks in the divisional playoff loss at San Francisco. He'll look to correct those mistakes with a new-look offense that said sayonara to offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, TE Dalton Schultz and RB Ezekiel Elliott but welcomed aboard six-time 1,000-yard WR Brandin Cooks and second-round pick TE Luke Schoonmaker. Prescott also continues to play behind one of the best offensive lines in football and a balanced attack featuring two-time Pro Bowl WR CeeDee Lamb and 2022 1K rusher Tony Pollard. A thumb injury cost him five games last season, which did include a couple of monster games: 347 yards and three TDs in a Week 16 win against the Eagles and 305-4 in a wild-card win at Tampa Bay. His motivation level is at 11 entering his eighth season. "I realize I might blink and my career might be over," he said. "The urgency is now.'

Dak Prescott 2022 Outlook
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked immediately after the team's Wildcard loss to the 49ers whether he should expect more from Prescott; he didn't equivocate. "[Prescott] has shown every time he's ever gotten in a position, he's shown he's a winner in football," Jones said. "As you well know, especially at that point, it's hard to pinpoint 'the' skill that makes it happen. But Dak has the skill to make it happen." The questions came in the wake of Prescott posting a 69.3 passer rating in that loss to the Niners -- his fourth-lowest pass rating at home in his career. Indeed, as NFL.com suggested, after Prescott's fast start to the season, the QB's inaccuracy and tentative play made for one of the most inexplicable stories in the entire league. He still mixed in enough solid games to finish with strong stats, but the bar is higher for Prescott, who was returning from two surgeries on a dislocated and compound fracture of his right ankle in Week 5 of the 2020 season. He also had a shoulder injury in training camp and a calf injury that kept him out one game during the season. Amari Cooper was traded to Cleveland, but CeeDee Lamb gives Dak the high-end play-making capability he'll need to excel, and the hope is the Cowboys will allow Prescott to run more now that he's a full season past his gruesome 2020 ankle injury.

Dak Prescott 2021 Outlook
Prescott's long-expected contract finally got done in March. It is a four-year deal worth $160 million, with $126 million guaranteed. As Profootballtalk.com notes, Prescott ended up costing the Cowboys more than he would have had the team reached an agreement earlier in his career, but they ensured the former fourth-round choice will be around beyond this season. That's great news for both the Cowboys and for fantasy managers. Prescott is 42-27 in the regular season in his five-year career, with a 1-2 post-season record. He has passed for 17,634 yards with 106 touchdowns and 40 interceptions. Prescott was leading the league in passing yards with 1,856 before the compound fracture and dislocation of his right ankle in Week 5 against the Giants. He underwent immediate surgery and a second surgery in December. Behind his nine touchdowns to four interceptions, Dallas' offense ranked first in yards per game and third in points before Prescott was hurt. Without him, the Cowboys ranked 27th in yards and 23rd in points. The good news is that Prescott, who will continue to enjoy a strong supporting cast, was already throwing the ball in April and should be ready for training camp -- even if the team remains very cautious with him until the games count.
