Darius Slayton 2020 Outlook
Picked 171st overall in the 2019 draft, Slayton led the Giants in receiving yards and touchdowns last season. His role should only expand this season as perhaps the Giants' best perimeter receiver. The question is, can Slayton be the true No. 1? According to ESPN.com's Jordan Raanan, "That's quite the jump. ..." Raanan went on to explain that while Slayton is clearly an up-and-coming player, he will have to compete for targets with veterans Golden Tate and Sterling Shepard. And though Slayton's overall production is likely to increase, his touchdown rate seems almost unsustainable after he produced a touchdown on one of every six catches in 2019. That said, the hope clearly is that Slayton will continue to progress alongside fellow 2019 rookie Daniel Jones and the wideout said his connection with Jones was "growing" after off-season workouts. It's safe to say that improving the production on the offensive perimeter is one area where new HC Joe Judge and his staff will look to help their second-year quarterback. As Profootballtalk.com suggested, the more faith Jones has in Slayton's hands, the more likely it is that the two players can put up the kind of numbers needed to lift the offense to where it needs to be and the more likely Slayton will continue to grow as a fantasy prospect.
