DFS Three And Out 2022 week 16

It's Week 16, the main slate is on Saturday and weather is a thing. Still, I've managed to come up with three reasonably-priced quarterbacks to choose from -- all with some upside. I also have one who doesn't check all the boxes (though he is reasonably priced). That's how the DFS Tournament Three and Out works. Let's get some!

I'm In

Daniel Jones, QB, New York Giants ($5,400 on DraftKings; $7,400 on FanDuel)

Don't look now, but Jones has five QB1 finishes this season -- including, as FantasyPros' Derek Brown notes, three in his last five games. He has 30-plus pass attempts and 10-plus rushes in two of his past three games. But it's the rushing upside that stands out. According to ESPN.com's Tristan H. Cockroft, Jones' 86.3 fantasy points on rushing plays is fifth most among quarterbacks and accounts for 38 percent of his fantasy production. He is fourth in rushing touchdowns, fourth in red-zone carries, and fifth in rushing yards per game among quarterbacks. Meanwhile, Minnesota's defense continues to struggle. Per Brown, since Week 10, the Vikings secondary has been 26th in fantasy points per game, 25th in success rate per dropback, 32nd in passing yards per game and 31st in explosive pass rate allowed. They've allowed 300-plus passing yards in five of their past six games.

Kirk Cousins, QB, Minnesota Vikings ($6,000 on DraftKings; $7,700 on FanDuel)

As ESPN's Al Zeidenfeld wrote: "Finding your way into the good-weather games this week is also a winning strategy, especially in a situation like this. ..." By "this," Zeidenfeld means the matchup against a Giants defense that's allowed multiple TD passes in three of their last four games and give up the sixth-most yards per completion in the league. Beyond that, Cousins has been good with top 10 fantasy weeks in three of his last four games. NBC Sports' Matthew Berry notes the Giants-Vikings 48.5-point total is the second-highest on the Week 16 slate and Minnesota has the third-highest implied team total. With favorable matchups for Justin Jefferson, Adam Thielen and K.J. Osborn, not to mention great options in tight end T.J. Hockenson and running back Dalvin Cook, Cousins' reasonable price offers multiple stacking options.

Geno Smith, QB, Seattle Seahawks ($6,100 on DraftKings; $7,600 on FanDuel)

As Berry noted, even though the Seahawks have lost four of their last five and are now in danger of missing the playoffs, Smith has still played well, delivering 19-plus fantasy points in six of his last seven games. Zeidenfeld notes that prior to Week 15, Smith had a streak of seven straight games with multiple TD passes and, for the season, he has thrown multiple TD passes in a league-high 11 games. This week, he goes up against a Kansas City defense that has allowed more touchdown passes than any team in the league. Berry further noted that teams facing the Chiefs average more than 36 pass attempts per game and every quarterback to face the Chiefs this season (except Malik Willis and Bryce Perkins) have thrown two or more touchdown passes. I realize Tyler Lockett is out, but DK Metcalf, Marquise Goodwin and a trio of capable tight ends should offer Smith ample opportunities to make good on his potential. It will be cold in Kansas City, but there is no wind or snow in the forecast for Saturday afternoon.

I'm Out

Deshaun Watson, QB, Cleveland Brown ($6,300 on DraftKings; $6,800 on FanDuel)

Watson is coming off his third game with the Browns since returning from an 11-game suspension. He went 700 days without playing a game. In addition to the suspension, he sat out the 2021 season with the Houston Texans after demanding a trade. It's no surprise there's been rust. The Browns have scored only two offensive touchdowns in three games with Watson at quarterback. And while he played his sharpest game so far with the Browns last week, it's a low bar. Watson completed 18 of 28 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown without a turnover. Still, Watson has failed to surpass 165 passing yards in two of his three starts. Adding to the "blah," Berry notes the Browns-Saints has an over/under of 32.5 -- the lowest in the NFL since 2009. Oh yeah, there will be steady winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts exceeding 50 mph in Cleveland, along with snow (and of course, cold).
