DFS Digging In The Crates Daily 2019 week 8 DraftKings

Justin Lonero Week 8 (DraftKings)

Main Slate (12 games)

Quarterbacks

Ryan Tannehill vs. Tampa Bay ($5,100)

Ryan Tannehill was efficient to say the least week 7 against the Chargers at home. He completed 23-of-29 passes for 312 yards and two touchdowns. He was able to find a rhythm with Corey Davis and A.J. Brown immediately. Impressive, the Bucs defense is not. Strangely, i’d use Ryan Tannehill in cash games and tournaments. Bargain bin special week 8.

Derek Carr @ Texans ($5,000)

Derek Carr was aggressive week 7 against the Packers but no where nearly as impressive as Aaron Rodgers was. He is projecting well this week in a game that could be a shoot out in Houston. The Texans have been porous defensively through week 7 and my belief is that if Carr can go to Green Bay and perform well against a solid defense he’ll have a chance to have a decent day in Houston. Carr feels like a safe salary saver this week and it’d behoove us to use him with Darren Waller.

Running backs

Ty Johnson vs. Giants ($4,900)

It is a shame that the Lions lost Kerryon Johnson, it’s as if the Lions have been plagued at running back since Barry Sanders sailed off into the sunset. Ty Johnson will have an increased role after 14 touches week 7. J.D. McKissic still figures to have a receiving role and i’m extremely optimistic about neither. That said, we are paying peanuts for volume on a good Mathew Stafford led offense. Opportunity is the name of the game and Johnson will get that. Use him in cash games week 8, we’ll see if he can pass the fantasy litmus test.

Sony Michel vs. Browns ($5,200)

Sony Michel is the clear cut goal line back on a Patriots offense that is going to move the ball but is still having an identity crisis with all of the moving pieces. Michel punched in three touchdowns in a Jets trouncing week 6. I expect 20 more touches from Sony at home against the Browns week 8. The Browns are one of the worst run defenses in the league as they’re allowing 154 yards per game on the ground. Fire up Michel in cash games and tournaments.

Wide receivers

Emmanuel Sanders vs. Panthers ($4,600)

I often talk about geographical relocations and Emmanuel Sanders has found a new home in San Francisco on an offense that needs his skill set desperately. Sanders wants to win and the 49ers are doing just that. He’ll be an offensive center piece along with George Kittle. He needed a change. Sanders is a polished veteran that can get open in man or zone coverage. I think he is the perfect tournament play week with much apprehension given the unknown. We’ve seen his ceiling time, and time again.

Corey Davis @ Buccaneers ($4,400)

It’s amazing what a change in quarterbacks can do to a team sometimes. Corey Davis has been deprived of show casing his skill set consistently with Marcus Mariota’s propensity to be erratic. Davis caught 6-of-7 targets for 80 yards and a touchdown week seven against the Chargers. We love chemistry and we love instant chemistry in fantasy land. Get while the getting is good with Ryan Tannehill and Corey Davis. A Crate stack with upside in a beautiful matchup.

Tight End

Gerald Everett vs. Bengals ($4,300)

Gerald Everett has had 34 targets in the last four weeks. He’s showed his floor (2.9 Fantasy points) and he’s also had some ceiling games game. Impressive on a Rams team that has numerous mouths to feed. Everett will get a Juicy matchup at home against an atrocious Bengals team. I’m not sold on him in cash games but he’s a great tournament play week 8.

T.J. Hockenson vs. Giants ($3,500)

Dollar for dollar T.J. Hockenson is a top-5 projected tight end on the main slate. He has a terrific matchup against a Giants team that is mighty generous defensively. With Kerryon Johnson done for the season and unsure backfield, Matthew Stafford may be forced to sling it. Rookie tight ends struggle and Hock has struggled. We need to have short term memories in DFS. Price, opportunity and matchup make him more than desirable week 8. Use him in cash games.

Defense/Special Teams

Colts vs. Broncos ($2,900)

The Colts held down Patrick Mahomes at Arrowhead week 5 in a dazzling performance. They get Joe Flacco at home week 8 without Emmanuel Sanders. Count me in for a few sacks and maybe a touchdown.
