A.J. Brown 2023 Outlook
When he is done making defensive backs reconsider their career choices, Brown could teach prospective employees a masterclass in how to make a strong first impression. With 155 yards in his first game and a franchise-record 1,496 yards in his first season, Brown nearly brought a championship parade to Broad Street in a historic debut campaign in Philadelphia in 2022. He topped 150 yards on two other occasions, including a 6-156-3 game against Pittsburgh, and torched his former Titans teammates for eight catches, 119 yards and two scores. There were a couple of clunkers along the way, but Brown helped to elevate the play of QB Jalen Hurts and WR DeVonta Smith as the NFC champions finished third in the NFL in both points and yards. Over the past four seasons, he has averaged better than 10 yards per target three times. No other WR in the NFL has registered more than two such seasons (min. 50 receptions) in that span (Tampa Bay's Chris Godwin).
A.J. Brown 2022 Outlook
The Titans selected Brown in the second round of the 2019 draft. He spent three seasons in Tennessee. Entering the final year of his deal, Brown was looking for long-term security, which the Titans weren't ready to give him. Instead, they traded him to Philadelphia. In addition, Brown got a new contract -- as in a super-high end contract: A four-year, $100 million extension with $57 million guaranteed. Brown, who made the Pro Bowl in 2020, has caught 185 passes for 2,995 yards and 24 touchdowns through three seasons. Brown caught 63 passes for 869 yards with five touchdowns in 13 games in 2021. He went over 1,000 yards in each of his first two seasons for the Titans. The Eagles saw an opportunity to get Brown and team him with quarterback Jalen Hurts, who was heavily involved with recruiting Brown to Alabama before he chose to stay in-state and play for Ole Miss. Brown called Hurts his "best friend" and the Eagles are betting that putting the two players together will result in big things for the team's offense during the 2022 season. As FantasyPros noted, Brown has never played in a pass-happy offense, and that doesn't necessarily project to change too drastically if the Eagles run back their approach from a season ago. Still, Brown's talent has yet to hold him back amid a poor situation, and that shouldn't stop in Philly.
A.J. Brown 2021 Outlook
Brown, who had clean-up surgery on both knees earlier this year, wasn't able to practice with his teammates in offseason workouts, which concluded in mid-June. Instead, he focused on getting healthy and getting ready for what's ahead after gutting through injuries in 2020. But the rising third-year pro hasn't allowed himself is excited about what's ahead. "I am excited to get back on the field, and get back out there with my teammates, just to be out there again. I have been rehabbing, and I have been taking it slow. And I'll be back out there soon." A second-round pick of the Titans in the 2019 NFL Draft out of Mississippi, Brown was named a Pro Bowler in 2020 after his second straight 1,000-yard season. In his first two NFL seasons, Brown has 2,126 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns. This year, Brown should not only benefit from his experience, but from those around him. The Titans signed former Rams receiver Josh Reynolds earlier this offseason, and then traded for seven-time Pro Bowler Julio Jones in early June. Brown is excited about the new additions, and for what could be in store for him and the offense in 2021. Indeed, from a fantasy perspective, there's no reason to believe Brown's role -- or his production -- will diminish this fall.
