Quarterback

Aaron Rodgers vs. Seahawks ($6,500)

While Aaron Rodgers price tag doesn’t fit the criteria of a typical Crate price tag, he is cheaper than Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Deshaun Watson and Russell Wilson on the main slate this weekend. There is something about Aaron Rodgers at Lambeau Field in January that is as deadly as any quarterback come playoff time. Jimmy Garoppolo makes sense if we are paying way down in tournaments given his ability to throw for over 300 yards from time to time. Pairing him with Davante Adams seems like a must. Truth is? Lamar Jackson is the steak and potatoes in cash games.

Running back

Carlos Hyde @ Chiefs ($5,000)

Revenge narrative on the horizon for Carlos Hyde! The Chiefs didn’t value his presence but he’s enjoyed a stellar 2019 campaign with the Houston Texans. The Chiefs run defense has been a bottom five unit allowing 4.9 yards per carry and over 128 yards rushing a game. Sign me up. If would behoove the Bill O’Brien and the Texans to find balance and keep Patrick Mahomes from gashing them through the air. I anticipate 15-20 touches for Hyde this weekend making him cash game viable for certain. His upside is suspect, but his salary allows us to spend elsewhere and we’re going to need it.

Wide receiver

Deebo Samuel vs. Vikings ($5,200)

I briefly mentioned Jimmy Garoppolo being a great tournament play based on price, ownership and occasional flashes of top notch ceiling games. I’d love to know who Xavier Rhodes will be covering because he has been atrocious this season in coverage. We have a decision to make if we’re going to use Emmanuel Sanders or Samuel. I’ll take the slight discount on Deebo. Sanders is the ultimate boom or bust tournament play and Deebo Samuel gives us stability on the cheap. I’ll be using him as a salary saver to run it back with Dalvin Cook whom the Vikings are going to unleash. Should be noted that the 49ers have allowed four rushing touchdowns over the last three games.

Tight End

Kyle Rudolph @ 49ers ($3,400)

Truth be told, i’m paying up for Travis Kelce and George Kittle this week. An argument can be made for the discounted Mark Andrews who has been Lamar Jackson’s favorite target all season. However, it’s a star studded cast this weekend and we will need salary relief. Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen are less than 100% and that is where Kyle Rudolph could be depended on. Particularly in the red zone. He is someone touchdown dependent but he has been as reliable as it gets at the position. For a shade over 3k he’s worth a dart in a lineup or two so that we can pay a premium at running back or wide receiver.

Defense/Special Teams

Packers vs. Seahawks ($2,800)

As much as we love Russell Wilson, he’s been sacked more than anyone in 2019. The Packers rank 12th in adjusted sack rate and 4th in adjusted pressure rate. In other words, they get to the quarterback. This weekend they’ll get to face an atrocious offensive line that is ranked near the bottom. I’m in, they’ll be low owned and we’ll be getting a bargain.
