Stefon Diggs 2020 Outlook
The Bills acquired Diggs for a handful of draft picks this offseason. It was a significant move for a Buffalo team looking to take the next step forward in a division that won't have Tom Brady playing in it anymore. The Bills have made the postseason in two of the last three years but are still looking for their first playoff victory since 1995. A fifth-round pick in 2015, Diggs quickly established himself as an undersized force to be reckoned with. Over five seasons, he compiled 365 catches for 4,623 receiving yards and 30 scores. But, as NFL.com reminded readers, things soured between Diggs and Minnesota in the two years following, despite the receiver enjoying career-high production. Diggs was fined in October for missing Vikings meetings and practices, which led to rumblings and trade rumors that subsided but never really went away. In Buffalo, Diggs joins a receiver room populated by fellow diminutive speedster John Brown, possession man Cole Beasley, Andre Roberts and Robert Foster. It's fair to assume Diggs, who ranked second in terms of yards-per-catch average (17.9) among wideouts who caught at least 60 passes, will have Josh Allen's attention. Expect him to remain in the WR2 range for fantasy owners this fall.
Stefon Diggs 2019 Outlook
As CBSSports.com suggested, while he hasn't been quite as good as teammate Adam Thielen, Diggs has caught at least 67 percent of his targets each of the past three years, and he's scored 13 touchdowns in his past 20 games. The former fifth-round draft pick, a starter since 2015, caught a career-high 102 passes in 2018, finishing his first season alongside QB Kirk Cousins with 1,021 yards and nine touchdowns -- also personal bests. In fact, as the Fantasy Footballers pointed out, since the Vikings' Week 10 bye, Diggs had more touchdowns than Mike Evans, more receptions than Amari Cooper and more targets than Keenan Allen -- all of whom are being drafted ahead of him. If the second half of last season indicates what 2019 will look like, Diggs might just be the steal of your draft. But there are some concerns. First and foremost, the Vikings are expected to focus more heavily on the run this season. Also, the presence of Thielen will be a limiting factor to some degree. Diggs' catch rate and yards per catch were both worse than his teammate in 2018, and Diggs is more likely to draw the opposing team's best corner in coverage. That doesn't necessarily make Diggs a bad play, but it's worth noting when splitting hairs among this tier of receivers.
