Kyle Rudolph 2021 Outlook
Faced with salary cap woes, Rudolph wouldn’t accept a pay cut to stay in Minnesota so the team released him after 10 seasons. His 28 catches last season came on just 35 targets resulting in his lowest output since the 2014 season. He churned up 334 receiving yards and one touchdown, the latter a career low for the former second-rounder. He missed the final four games of the season with a Lisfranc sprain -- an injury worth noting because it raised a flag during Rudolph's physical and delayed his official signing with the Giants. In the end, the team decided to honor the contract, and after successful surgery, Rudolph should be good to go by the start of the regular season. Assuming that's the case, Rudolph gives the Giants another playmaker at the tight end spot to pair with Evan Engram in an offense that now also features Kenny Golladay at wideout. Rudolph's acquisition does not affect Engram's status with the team, sources told ESPN's Jordan Raanan, although the tight ends room is crowded with Kaden Smith and Levine Toilolo currently on the roster.
