Digging In The Crates (DraftKings)

Week 16 Main Slate (12 Games)

Quarterbacks

Nick Foles vs. Texans ($4,700)

Nick Foles led the Eagles to a win into Los Angeles week 15 throwing for 270 yards at 77.% completion clip. The rapport was there with Alshon Jeffery early and often. The 29 year old has been a night in shining armor when Carson Wentz has been off the field showing a consistent level of comfort. The texans pass defense ranks 26th allowing 258 yards per game. This could be a close, shoot out. Using Foles in cash games makes sense and a tournament stack with Alshon Jeffery and/or Zach Ertz for an extremely affordable cost could be interesting. DeAndre Hopkins on the other side makes plenty of sense as well given the Eagles secondary is 31st in pass defense.

Sam Darnold vs. Packers ($4,700)

Sam Darnold has been thrown into the flames year one and with that comes highs and lows. He’s nearly doubling his fantasy production at home. He’ll get a Packers team week 16 that is a lost cause. Vegas has the Jets as one point favorites with 44 point total. He was super efficient week 15 against the Texans and even had six carries for 35 yards. Foles is the play in this price range which is scary territory week 16 but Darnold could be a super contrarian stack with Robby Anderson who is ridiculously cheap.

Running backs

Kalen Ballage vs. Jaguars ($3,700)

Better late than never for Kalen Ballage who rushed for 123 yards on 12 carries week 15 against the Vikings in a blow out loss. With Frank Gore sidelined, Ballage will look to carry the bulk in a time share with Kenyan Drake (who is also affordable). The Jaguars are allowing 119 yards on the ground per game and with an ailing Ryan Tannehil, running the ball early and often seems like a recipe for a win. Ballage is looking at a week 16 audition for the lead role in 2019. His 75 yards touchdown run was clocked at 21.87 mph. The seventh fastest run of the season by an running back in the NFL. Fire him up in cash games and tournaments.

Elijah McGuire vs. Packers ($4,700)

Elijah McGuire has 35 carries over the last two weeks and has scored in back to back weeks. His price has come up but his lead role will stay the same for the duration of 2018. Classic case of paying for volume on the cheap here. He’s also had three receptions in consecutive weeks. He’ll get a terrible Packers run defense that is allowing 4.5 yards per carry and have allowed 14 touchdowns to running backs so far this season. The hype is real with McGuire and the Jets want to show case him.

Wide receivers

Robby Anderson vs. Packers ($4,500)

Robby Anderson has caught 11-of-18 targets and has touchdowns in back to back weeks. He’s filled in as the Jets top pass catcher with rookie Sam Darnold at the helm.
The chemistry wasn’t there early in the season with the two but it has been the last two weeks. Anderson is now healthy after dealing with an ankle injury all season. The Packers have given up the 12th most fantasy points to wide receivers so this season and Anderson is an athletic freak that can get down the field as well as anyone. Use him in tournaments the targets will be there.

Reuben Foster @ Patriots ($4,900)

Playing Reuben Foster week 16 feels a little bit as if we’re “chasing” points because of the stellar production he’s had over the last two weeks (11 receptions, 212 yards and a touchdown). But the fact of the matter is that the Bills are desperate for playmakers and Foster is sticking out like a sore thumb in the vanilla Bills offense. He has developed a rapport with Josh Allen and the Bills will probably be trailing against the Patriots. Pro Football Focus has had Foster graded as a top-6 wide receiver since week 10 right in front of Amari Cooper. At his price point he can be used in tournaments and cash games. He’ll have his hands full if Stephon Gilmore is covering him.

Tight end

David Njoku vs. Bengals ($3,800)

The tight end position has been an absolute dumpster fire so far in 2018 and from a fantasy angle it’s been equally as agonizing. David Njoku sticks out as a solid Crate play this week against a Bengals team he fared well against week 12. Njoku caught all five targets for 63 yards and a touchdown on the road. He’s been quiet since week 15 and it feels like positive regression is on the way. Baker Mayfield has leaned on the young tight end all season. It’s tough to use him in cash games because of the inconsistencies but he’ll be a low owned tournament play in a game where the Browns should tune up the Bengals.

Blake Jarwin vs. Buccaneers ($3,000)

As the sea of mediocrity gets deeper we find ourselves swimming in uncharted waters. Cowboys tight end finds himself in a good spot Week 16 against the lowly Bucs. Jarwin has caught 11-of-14 targets over the last two weeks and seems to be a dependable safety valve for Dak Prescott. It’s a good position to punt and Jarwin fits the criteria. The Cowboys offense needs to get going and they’ll need to get production outside of Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper.

Defense/Special Teams

Vikings @ Lions ($2,900)

I can’t help but think of what the Vikings defense did to Matthew Stafford week 9 when they sacked him ten times and scored a touchdown. They are still one of the most talented units in the NFL and despite hitting the road this week at Detroit, we’re getting them at a discount.
