Digging In The Crates - Daily 2016 week 3

By Justin Lonero
Justin Lonero The first thing that is important to realize about this article, is that everyone is dirt cheap and the second component is, there are no certainties. It sounds more of a disclaimer but it is true. There is value to be had every week in Daily Fantasy Sports, the trick is searching deep in the crates for it.

Quarterback

Sam Bradford @ Panthers ($5,300)
It is safe to say that Sam Bradford is turning into a journeyman. The former first overall pick looked sharp against the Packers last week throwing for 286 yards and two touchdowns. Blaine Gabbert had three total touchdowns against the Panthers week two, on the road, I see no reason why Bradford and Stefon Diggs cant have moderate success on the road at Carolina as well.

Carson Wentz vs. Steelers ($5,500)
The rookie Carson Wentz has been very impressive through two starts. Wentz has had a 94.1 QB rating, 468 passing yards, three touchdown passes, and zero interceptions. He'll face a Steelers secondary this week at home that is allowing 347.5 yards a contest. Wentz is spreading the ball around and while he may not throw four touchdowns, he seems to be relatively safe at his price point. Interestingly enough Ben Roethlisberger comparison's have been drawn all week. From number's standpoint, Wentz has been one of the best. It is a beautiful thing to watch a rookie quarterback thrown into the lead role from the get go.

Running Back's

Jerick Mckinnon @ Carolina ($3,800)
Mike Zimmer said this week that Jerick Mckinnon will be the Vikings starting running back in the absense of the injured Adrian Peterson. In 2014 McKinnon got some exposure as a rookie, starting six games. Matt Asiata will have a role and it could be the goal line work. The Vikings just signed former Bronco Ronnie Hillman, but Mckinnon is certainly the sexiest option at this point. The running game is what is going to make the Vikings successful, and it wont take much for Mckinnon to reach value at his super cheap price Sunday. The Panthers are allowing 106.5 rushing yards a game.

Jay Ajayi vs. Browns ($4,000)
We all knew it was just a matter of time until Arian Foster got banged up, which is a cynical yet realistic outlook. Week one Jay Ajayi didnt even make the trip to Seattle and many people were down on him for good reason. The key word here is opportunity and it looks like Ajayi will get the bulk with Kenyan Drake stealing a little work. The good news is, he'll get a wounded Browns team at home who are allowing 106.5 yards rushing per game. A good portion of the time running backs get their job by default, this is one of those instances. Week 3 should serve as an audition for Ajayi to prove to the Dolphins organization that he's not as bad as he has looked.

Wide Receivers

Jamison Crowder @ Giants ($3,800)
I am not going to stop talking about Jamison Crowder until he deserves the silent treatment. Crowder is tied for the team lead in receptions with 12, and he has gotten 18 targets in the first two weeks. His sub $4,000 price tag allows DFSers to use him on the cheap, feel safe about it, and spend frivolously elsewhere. Kirk Cousins obviously has tremendous confidence in the second year wideout and that should continue week 3 against the Giants. Crowder is averaging 13.9 Fantasy points per game on Draft Kings.

Nelson Agholor vs. Steelers ($3,500)
Polish, experience, and maturity take longer for some than others in the NFL and in the game of life as we all know. Nelson Agholor may find himself learning this important stuff now. Agholor has been targeted 12 times in the first two weeks of the season clearly taking on the number two receiver role opposite of Jordan Matthews. The Eagles are a young receiving corp working with a rookie quarterback. The opportunities should continue for agholor as he finds himself growing each week. Without Zach Ertz someone has to pick up the slack in the passing game. I am not nearly as confident in Agholor as I am in Crowder at this point but both will get their looks.

Tight End's

Dennis Pitta @ Jaguars ($3,400)
Good old Dennis Pitta. I mean there may not be a player we like more than Pitta that gets hurt as much as he does. The Bottom line is he's healthy now and a week ago he caught nine-of twelve targets for 102 yards, and a touchdown against the Browns. Lets face it, the Ravens are limited in the wealth of offensive options that they have and Joe Flacco historically has loved his tight ends. He'll be highly owned for good reason but that should not deter anyone from fading him completely.

Clive Walford @ Titans ($2,800)
The Oakland Raiders offense as a whole is growing on all of us and it has taken forever. Clive Walford has breakout written all over him. Walford has nine receptions on 12 targets for 75 yards and a touchdown so far this season. And while those numbers don't scream Rob Gronkowski or Jordan Reed neither does his price tag. He is a sophomore now with experience and confidence on a team that is going to drop points in bunches. Derek Carr loves him and we'll see him used often in the red zone this season. The Raiders are have been playing catch up and that will always benefit receivers/tight ends in fantasy land.

Defense/Special Teams

Dolphins vs. Browns ($3,000)

Through two games the Dolphins have one interception, two defensive fumble recoveries, and five sacks. They will get to feast on the Browns at home Sunday against an anemic Browns offense with rookie Cody Kessler set to make his first NFL start.
