In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Josh Allen each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Pos Team Opp Start / Sit Comment
Jared Goff QB DET GNB SIT Goff has had some good games, but GB is tough vs opposing QBs and they are treating this as a must win game. I'd look elsewhere if you have someone.
Justin Fields QB CHI MIA START You might want to give Fields a try in a game where Miami's ranked 25th vs opposing QBs. They did just add an EDGE in Bradley Chubb, but it will be his first game with the team so his impact is likely limited.
Trevor Lawrence QB JAC LV START Another great matchup for a QB, Lawrence could give you a startable week with this plus matchup
Caleb Huntley RB ATL LAC START Patterson has been designated to return so watch to see if he gets activated. But, you want to play your RBs vs the Chargers and Huntley has actually looked decent. Plus, Atlanta seems to stubbornly stick with the run.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire RB KAN TEN SIT Tennessee ranks 5th against opposing RBs and it seems like after the BYE Pacheco may be even more involved. Both tend to be outplayed in the passing game by McKinnon so I'd steer clear
Deon Jackson RB IND NE START With Jonathon Taylor ruled out, fire up Jackson during this six team BYE week. Most teams need him.
D'Onta Foreman RB CAR CIN START With Chuba Hubbard OUT, Foreman gets another week as a feature back and he's been producing. Keep him in lineups
Jamaal Williams RB DET GNB START Williams gets the START in a revenge game with D'andre Swift still banged up. Detroit will lean on their run game and Williams has been solid.
Isaiah Likely TE BAL NOR START As I mentioned last week, if Andrews is OUT, Likely could make for a great spot start. The same is true this week with Andrews having not practied through Friday. The game is Monday night so keep a watch and New Orleans is rnaked 2nd toughest vs the TE so it's not as much a slam dunk, but with six teams on BYE, I'll take spot starter
Noah Fant TE SEA ARI START Now, granted it's difficult to say which SEA TE to go with, but Arizona is dreadful vs opposing TEs. If you don't like Fant, you can try Dissley
Zach Ertz TE ARI SEA START The ony team rivaling Arizona vs opposing TEs, is SEA. Put Ertz in your lineups
Allen Lazard WR GNB DET START Lazard is officially questionable, but if he plays, Rodgers will need to lean on someone and he trusts Lazard.
Jordan Palmer WR LAC ATL START Palmer shoud be in a great spot this week vs Atlanta's week defensive backfield. Both Keenan Allen and Mike Williams are OUT so Palmer will step into WR1 shoes.
Juju Smith Schuster WR KAN TEN START Tennessee is tough vs the RUN but susceptible to the pass. It will be hard to know which Kansas City WR will cash on the matchups especially with the addition of Kadarius Toney, but Juju is probably the safest bet
