In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Josh Allen each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Pos Team Opponent Start / Sit Comment
Tyler Allgeier RB ATL TB SIT Tampa is ranked no. 3 toughest opponent vs the RB. Although Allgeier is likely to get the start this week, he'll still probably split time. This isn't the defense you want to play a running back committee against unless he's a heavy pass catcher or has an elite offensive line to help him.
J.K. Dobbins RB BAL CIN START Cincinnati had a tough time against opposing RBs (ranked 24th) while containing opposing passing games. The stat is a bit misleading considering the QBs they've faced, but Dobbins who seems to be getting healthier this week is looking like a solid starter here in week 5
Diontae Johnson WR PIT BUF SIT The rookie gave the Steelers a spark last week, but Diontae is coming into this game with a questionable tag facing a very difficult Bills defense. Look to see if you have better options
TJ Hockenson TE DET NE START Hockenson broke out last week and likely will again need to be counted on given the health status of the receivers on this team. NE has also been vulnerable to opposing Tes (ranking 27th)
Rhamondre Stevenson RB NE DET START Both of these running backs should be decent plays in what will likely be a run heavy game script for NE vs Detroit's 31st ranked run defense
Damien Harris RB NE DET START
Derek Carr QB LV KC START Carr needs to have a break out game. KC should put them in a negative game script and they rank 28th vs opposing QBs. Carr needs to get this offense to work. He has the weapons (Adams, Waller, Renfrow should be back and Hollins is a solid 4th target)
