Startem sitem SUNDAY Week 12 2022

In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Josh Allen each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Pos Team Opp Start / Sit Comment
Derek Carr QB LV SEA START Seattle's defense is much improved compared with early in the season, but Carr is likely needed here and his connection with Adams is fantastic.
Samje Perine RB CIN TEN START The matchup is far from ideal, but he is a starting RB this week on a strong offense.
Rachaad White RB TAM CLE START White gets to carry the load this week, or at least that's what the doubtful tag on Fournette implies. He also gets a plus matchup with Cleveland
Jeff Wilson RB MIA HOU START It looks like Mostert will be OUT this week, Wilson should get a larger workload in a plus matchup
Tyler Allgeier RB ATL WAS SIT Atlanta has been very run heavy, but Washington's defense is solid vs the run, I'd look elsewhere
David Montgomery RB CHI NYJ SIT Granted, you might not have better options but the Bears are going into this one likely without Fields. That allows one extra defender to focus on Chicago's running game.
Cam Akers RB LAR KC SIT Akers looks to have emerged into the full time role with Henderson's release this week. But, I don't like the matchup with a backup QB.
Elijah Mitchell RB SF NOR SIT Mitchell's limited involvement in the passing game makes him a TD dependent play vs a tough run D.
Gerald Everett TE LAC ARI START If Everett goes, he has a good matchup vs ARI who tends to give up points to opposing Tes.
