In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Josh Allen each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Pos Team Opp Start / Sit Comment
Brock Purdy QB SF ARI START Purdy isn't an excitng fantasy QB, but he gets the job done and he has a plus matchup this week vs Arizona
Derrick Henry RB TEN CIN SIT Tennessee gets Cincinnati this week who is ranked 3rd vs the RB. Henry's issue this year is his low efficiency and, as always, low usage in games with a negative game script. These factors could combine this week. If you have reasonable alternatives, use them.
Khalil Herbert RB CHI DEN START Now, the stats could be biased based on last weeks drubbing from Miami, but Denver ranks as the worst run defense in the league. The Bears would prefer to run the ball and in a neutral game script, Herbert has been getting 2/3 of the opportunities. That could change if one of these teams gets a big lead on the other and, in those cases, we see more Roschon
Javonte Williams RB DEN CHI START Similar issue with Denver, they will want to establish the ground game to open up passing opportunities vs the Bears injury riddled ssecondary, but Williams should have solid workload this week
Jaylen Warren RB PIT HOU START I like Warren's chances this week. Houston has been a defense that gives up much more vs the RUN than the Pass. This plays into PIT's committee backfield. Warren who's been just below startable should have a plus week.
Adam Thielen WR CAR MIN START Thielen should follow up his big game vs the 31st ranked against the WR with a revenge gave vs the 30th ranked defense vs the WR.
Nico Collins WR HOU PIT START Look for Collins to rebound from a poor performance last week with a plus matchup vs PIT
