In this Start Em / Sit Em column each week, I'm looking to find some fringe players that you might consider starting each week and comment based on their matchups. Early on, I'll base my selection of candidates on where they were with respect to ADP. I'm not going to try to pad my stats by suggesting your start Patrick Mahomes each week, but instead trying to dig deep and find some nuggets for players to avoid or to go after. These are coin flip guys and if I can finish the year at better than 60% I'll consider it a success. My metrics to get the start decision are: QB 20 pts or more, RB, WR or TE need to score 12 pts or more for a successful endorsement. Defense/Special Teams should put in 8 points or more to get those picks right. I'll look at ~3-6 players on each Thursday night's game and ~ 6 players for the rest of the week to get you going.

Player Pos Team Opp Start / Sit Comment
Taysom Hill QB NO ATL START Atlanta has been surprisingly tough lately against opposing passers. However, Hill's legs are aguably more dangerous than his arm and he still seems to be the goal line back. So I like his chances
J.K. Dobbins RB BAL DAL START The last time we saw Dobbins, he had assumed lead RB duties for Baltimore. They come off a game where their team was depleted of starters due to Covid. Dobbins should enter this game as the starter and gets a plus matchup vs. Dallas.
David Montgomery RB CHI DET START Montgomery gets another plus matchup and should perform if Trubisky doesn't underperform for four quarters.
Miles Gaskin RB MIA CIN START Right now Gaskin appears to be headed toward playing while Ahmed and Breida both look like they'll miss this one. If he misses this one, look for DeAndre Washington to re-appear in fantasy lineups.
Christian Kirk WR ARI LAR SIT Rams are one of the tougher defenses against the pass and Murray seems to be a bit banged up. Look for other options this week.
Allen Lazard WR GB PHI START Lazard has been increasing his snaps since his return. Philadelphia is a good enough matchup that I think Lazard can return to putting in startable weeks for your fantasy team.
