Quick hits week 3 2017

By Chad Stapley
Chad Stapley Deshone Kizer proved he wasn’t quite ready to be the starter as the Ravens defense overwhelmed him. He isn’t worthy of being your starter at QB just yet in any fantasy football league, throwing three INTs this week proved that.

The RB that offers the most intrigue for the Browns is Duke Johnson Jr. as he touches the football both by running and catching passes. Johnson ran the ball five times for 26 yards and he caught three passes for 59 yards. He is a nice FLEX option.

Alex Collins & Terrance West might have combined to carry the ball 15 times but Buck Allen should be the lead RB for the Ravens. Allen not only runs the ball well but he is explosive when he catches the ball out of the backfield. Allen ran the ball 14 times for 66 yards and he caught five passes for 35 yards and a TD. He is a nice RB2 option or possibly a FLEX option for any fantasy football roster.

JJ Nelson has quickly became the Cardinals best WR as he has caught a TD in both games this season. Nelson led all Cardinals WRs with five catches for 120 yards and a TD. Look for the Cardinals to look to him early and often as the season continues.

The Colts have a decent TE in Jack Doyle, and once Andrew Luck comes back from injury he could elevate from a TE2 to a TE1 position. Doyle terrorized the Cardinals for the likes of eight catches and 79 yards.

It was only a matter of time before Derrick Henry took over as the RB1 for the Titans. Henry is a monster to try and tackle and he proved he is a fantasy football stud by running the ball 14 times for 92 yards and a TD.

The Jaguars have two WRs who stood out this week with Allen Robinson out for the season with an injury. Both Marquise Lee & Allen Hurns turned in impressive week two performances. Lee caught seven passes for 76 yards and Hurns caught six passes for 82 yards and a TD. Both are worthy of a start at the WR3 or FLEX position on any fantasy football roster.

Carson Wentz looked both good and bad at the same time. The good came via him throwing for 333 yards and two TDs while also rushing for 55 yards. The bad came with him throwing an INT, fumbling twice, and taking six sacks. Wentz is easily a QB1 but he has to limit his turnovers, especially in a close game.

Zach Ertz & Alshon Jeffery seem to get better each week and another year with Wentz for Ertz is paying dividends on the field. Ertz caught five passes for 97 yards and Jeffery caught seven passes for 92 yards and a TD. Both of these guys are starters in any fantasy football league.

Another week and another great game for rookie sensation Kareem Hunt. Hunt ran the ball 13 times for 81 yards and two TDs to go with three receptions for 28 yards. Hunt is easily a RB1 and should be started every week.

Travis Kelce proves weekly that he is one of the best TEs in the NFL. This week he caught eight passes for 103 yards and a TD. He is getting close to the category of being un-defendable.

Just in case anybody had concerns, Tom Brady put those concerns away by throwing for 447 yards and three TDs in a beat down of the Saints. Brady is the best QB in the NFL and it isn’t even close. If you are lucky enough to have him on your fantasy football team, sit back and watch him lead you to a championship.

Two guys the Buffalo Bills didn’t even want shined the brightest for the Patriots. RB Mike Gillislee & WR Chris Hogan. Gillislee ran the ball 18 times for 69 yards and a TD and Hogan caught five passes for 78 yards and a TD. Gillislee is still more of a RB3 or FLEX option but Hogan (with all the injuries the Patriots have) is a WR2 in most leagues.

Rob Gronkowski is the best TE in the NFL. He proves it each week and this week was no different. Gronkowski caught six passes for 116 yards and a TD.

The Saints have three RBs that are worthy of starting at any given time, however, Mark Ingram has looked like the best option through two weeks. Ingram ran the ball eight times for 52 yards and he caught four passes for 24 yards.

Drew Brees is still an amazing QB even if his defense couldn’t stop a nose bleed. Brees threw for 356 yards and two TDs in a loss to the Patriots.

Even in a loss, Dalvin Cook still looked above average. Cook ran the ball 12 times for 64 yards and had two receptions that didn’t gain any yards. Playing with a backup at QB hurt his production a bit.

Martavis Bryant only need two weeks to make his presence felt. Bryant is a nightmare matchup and he should receive a lot of one on one coverage with Antonio Brown lined up on the other side of the field. Bryant finished with three catches for 91 yards and a TD.

Ben Roethlisberger is on fire to start the season. He threw for another two TDs and the Steelers walked away with another fairly easy win.

The rookie RB Tarik Cohen took a step back playing a better Tampa Bay defense but still did pretty well. Cohen ran the ball seven times for 13 yards and he caught eight passes for 55 yards. He is going to be a monster in the pass game.

The Bucs are going to need to find a way to continue to get Jacquizz Rodgers the ball even when Doug Martin returns. Rodgers ran the ball 19 times for 67 yards and a TD, proving he is worthy of a start in any fantasy football league.

Mike Evans is a monster and he is proving to be a top 3 WR in the NFL. Evans caught seven passes for 93 yards and a TD.

A change of scenery has done wonders for Jermaine Kearse, and his fantasy stats have proved just that. In a losing effort he caught four passes for 64 yards and two TDs. He is really the only receiving threat the Jets have so he should be in for some nice garbage time TDs.

Matt Forte is proving he still has some gas in the tank. He ran the ball nine times for 53 yards and caught four passes for 38 yards, he could be a nice RB2 or FLEX option when your starters have a BYE.

Derek Carr made quick work of the awful Jets defense by throw for three TDs. He is easily one of the top 5 NFL QBs right now.

The guy that caught all three TDs from Carr was none other than Michael Crabtree. That move across the bay really helped him become a much better WR.

Jay Ajayi picked up where he left off last season by running all over opposing defenses. In a win over the Chargers he ran the ball 28 times for 122 yards and he caught two passes. He is an easy starter in any fantasy football league.

The Dolphins duo of Jarvis Landry & DeVante Parker are going to give opposing defenses a nightmare to defend against. Landry is a monster in the short pass game and he caught 13 passes for 78 yards, he is a true PPR monster. Parker is a big play threat and he caught four passes for 85 yards.

The Chargers have got to figure out their run game because Phillip Rivers is actually playing well above average. In two weeks he has thrown for 523 yards with four TDs and one INT. He is an easy start as a QB1 on any fantasy roster.

Keenan Allen & Hunter Henry are the main benefactors of the great Rivers QB play. Allen caught nine balls for 100 yards and Hunter caught seven for 80 yards. Hunter is a very impressive second year TE.

Trevor Siemian looked extremely impressive in a beat down of the Cowboys. The second year QB threw for 231 yards and four TDs. Two of those TDs went to Emmanuel Sanders, who also caught six passes for 62 yards. Siemian is a starter in a two QB league, and Sanders should start in any league.

C.J. Anderson had one of the better games of his young career. Anderson ran all over Dallas and looked like he couldn’t be stopped. He finished the night running the ball 25 times for 118 yards and a TD to go with three receptions for 36 yards and a TD.

Washington has a star in Chris Thompson, and he has been terrorizing defenses since late last season. Thompson ran the ball three times for 77 yards and two TDs to go with his three receptions for 29 yards. He is all over the field and seems to be extremely hard to tackle.

Todd Gurley looked good and bad all at once. He ran the ball 16 times for 88 yards and he caught three passes for 48 yards, finishing with two TDs. However, he fumbled the ball twice.

TY Montgomery had 16 touches for 110 yards and two TDs, and it still seems like the Packers need to find a way to get him the ball even more. Montgomery is a threat to score any time he touches the ball.

Davante Adams needs to also get the ball more often. Adams is a star when the Packers allow him to be one, he caught eight passes for 99 yards and a TD.

The Falcons have a two headed monster at RB and at WR. At RB they have Devonta Freeman & Tevin Coleman who combined to run the ball 25 times for 12 yards and two TDs. At WR, they have Julio Jones & Mohamed Sanu who combined to catch 10 passes for 193 yards.

Matthew Stafford is playing like he is still trying to earn his money. Stafford had another solid outing throwing for 122 yards and two TDs.
