Dollar Free Agents 2016 Week 2

By Matthew Cherrin
Matthew Cherrin Cole Beasley- WR- Cowboys
The former Southern Methodist wide receiver, Cole Beasley, had seven more targets than Dez Bryant on Sunday afternoon when the Cowboys faced off against the Giants. He was able to record eight receptions for 65 yards. Only Jason Witten on the Cowboys had more targets than Beasley. Rookie quarterback Dak Prescott seemed to look for Witten and Beasley as his two safety nets. While the Cowboys are setup to be a run-first offense, they had Prescott throw 45 times in his NFL debut. It’s possible the Cowboys are going to continue to shoot themselves in the foot by throwing the ball way too much, which bodes well for Dallas wide outs in fantasy. Beasley might be in line for a 90 catch season. Pick up Beasley for a dollar in PPR leagues.

Quincy Enunwa- WR- Jets
With Eric Decker and Brandon Marshall playing the outside wide receivers for the Jets, Quincy Enunwa shined as the slot receiver last Sunday. He recorded seven receptions for 54 yards and one score against the Bengals last week. With the Jets lacking a tight end threat on offense, Enunwa might be in for a good season. Marshall and Decker attract a lot of attention from opposing defenses, which will leave Enunwa open to make some plays in the middle of the field. Ryan Fitzpatrick is more than capable of getting his receivers the ball for fantasy football stats, even if he’s not capable of taking a team to the playoffs. You can pick up Enunwa for a buck this week.

Shaun Draughn- RB- WR
Under Chip Kelly, the 49ers are going to run the ball a whole lot this season. Although Carlos Hyde will lead the charge, Shaun Draughn should see plenty of opportunities to put up points for fantasy owners. On Monday night against the Rams, Draughn had seven rushes for 18 yards and a touchdown. He also had two receptions for 18 yards. Draughn could be a huge fantasy pick up if Carlos Hyde goes down, which he has been known to do in the last two seasons. He’s worth a buck this week.

Chris Thompson- RB- Red Skins
Even though running back Chris Thompson was out-touched by Matt Jones in the Red Skin’s opening game against the Steelers, he still played 17 more downs than Jones. Thompson had a productive opening game on Monday night racking up 23 yards off four rushing attempts and a score. He also managed two receptions for 16 yards. Matt Jones seems to be the starter as of today, but Thompson looks like he’s the guy that Washington trusts the most. Pick up Thompson this week before his value goes up.

Jack Doyle- TE- Colts
The Colts second string tight end might be a player fantasy owners should keep an eye on as the season progresses. In week 1 against the Lions, Doyle had three receptions for 35 yards and two scores. Even though Doyle plays behind the Dwayne Allen, Doyle should see a good amount of red zone targets this season. Doyle is 6-6, and weighs 267 pounds, which makes him a huge target in the end zone for quarterback Andrew Luck. Dwayne Allen hasn’t been able to stay healthy for a year since he came into the league, and Doyle could be a good dollar pick up if Allen is unable to play. Pick him up now for a dollar.

Brandon LaFell- WR- Bengals
With the departure of Muhammed Sanu and Marvin Jones, the Bengals added Brandon LaFell to their 2016 roster. In his first game as a Bengal, LaFell caught all four of his targets for 91 yards. LaFell is the clear-cut number two wide receiver in Cincinnati. Even when Tyler Eifert comes back from injury, LaFell should have a substantial role for the Bengals. When LaFell was healthy two years ago with the Patriots, he managed 74 catches for 953 yards and seven scores. He is definitely worth spending a buck on to put on your roster.

Jeremy Kerley- RB- 49ers
The former Jet, Jeremy Kerley, had a good debut performance for San Francisco Monday night. He saw 11 targets on the night, and recorded seven receptions for 61 yards. Kerley’s speed might be exactly what Chip Kelly needs for his offense. There is no clear-cut number one receiver on the 49ers this year, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Kerley emerge as the number one wide out in San Francisco. Kerley is a great pick up in PPR leagues, and you can get him for a buck this week.
