Digging In The Crates Daily 2019 week 1 DraftKings

Quarterbacks

Kirk Cousins vs. Falcons ($5,500) It’s hard not to gravitate to the Vikings offensive weaponry with Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs and Dalvin Cook in the mix. Kirk Cousins is a bargain week 1 in a game that Vegas has as potentially shooting out. I’ll have a ton of exposure to the Vikings offense. (Dalvin Cook in particular). He’s a fine GPP guy at a great cost.

Nick Foles vs. Chiefs ($5,300) We’re going to see what Nick Foles is made of week 1 at home against the Chiefs in a game where he may be forced to catch up with Patrick Mahomes. A Jaguars stack makes a ton of sense with Leonard Fournette and Dede Westbrook. If the Jaguars are going to hang around then Foles needs to be efficient. The Chiefs have a suspect secondary which could lead to Nick Foles paying off his Crate price tag.

Bonus:Kyler Murray

Running backs

Jordan Howard vs. Redskins ($4,200) Nicely put, the Redskins are not going to be good in 2019. They’ll head to Philly week one in a game that projects to be a routing. This translates to volume on the cheap for the Eagles ground game. Enter newly acquired Jordan Howard who should have between 15+ carries and the ability to punch in a touchdown. Howard has the third most rushing yards over the last three seasons in the NFL. He’ll be grinding on early downs. The game script is the perfect storm for a volume back on the cheap at home against a divisional opponent. The game script sets up nicely if the Eagles are well ahead. Use him in cash games or GPPs.

Matt Breida @ Tampa Bay ($4,000) It’s deja vu! Matt Breida and the Forty Niners are traveling to Tampa just like week 12 in 2018. Breida is listed ahead of Tevin Coleman on the Niners depth chart and should see 15 or so touches. The Bucs/Niners game has one of the highest and closest spreads on the slate which should lead to some fantasy goodness to go around. Breida had 14 carries for 106 yards and three receptions for 30 yards a season ago in this match up (20 DraftKings points). He’s not a must play but we’re going to want some fantasy pieces here.

Bonus: Chris Thompson

Wide receivers

Curtis Samuel vs. Rams ($4,200) DJ Moore has gotten most of the attention recently among the Panthers pass catchers but make no mistake, Samuel is right there talent wise. He’s versatile in the running game as well. His cheap week 1 price in a potential shootout is making him a cash game LOCK. Get some samuel exposure and feel good about doing so. He’s blooming with Cam Newton before our eyes.

Christian Kirk vs. Lions ($4,700) When it’s all said and down Larry Fitzgerald is going to do the moon walk into Canton but it hasn’t happened yet. Waiting to take over is Christian Kirk who is now slated to return punts as well. We’re all interested in seeing this new up tempo Cardinals offense and Kirk projects to be a large part of it. We could have a week one shoot out in the desert and with Kirk returning punts it gives us some added equity on special teams. With the uncertainty of the Cardinals rookie QB and offensive line, i’ll use Christian Kirk in tournaments only.

Bonus:Dede Westbrook

Tight End

Mark Andrews @ Dolphins ($3,000) When we look at the Ravens offense, it’s not eye popping at all outside of Lamar Jackson. They’re a run heavy team that wants to control the clock. Week 1 the Ravens get the Dolphins and it’s time for Lamar Jackson to show us that he can go through his reads and progressions. Mark Andrews will serve as his safety valve if they’re going to have any semblance of balance or a passing game. Andrews was leaned on heavy by Baker Mayfield in college and that could be the case here. I’m comfortable enough to use him in cash games and GPPs. The Ravens have to hit on a tight end eventually dont they?

Hunter Henry vs. Colts ($3,900) Do we really know who Hunter Henry is? Not really. Antonio Gates has finally moved along, leaving a “healthy” Hunter Henry a lion share of targets. Red zone targets in particular. Tyrell Williams has gone to Oakland as well. His price is too good week one against a Colts team that struggled to cover tight ends a season ago. It’s a clean slate and a new season but i’m in on Henry sunday as a cash game play.

Bonus:Gerald Everett

Defense/Special teams

Seahawks vs. Bengals ($3,100) Let’s not get cute here. The Seahawks just added Jadaveon Clowney and are HEAVY favorites against a putrid Bengals offense week one. I can envision a defensive touchdown at home in what should be a Seahawks beat down.
