TheHunterReport DFS Week 11 2016

By Dave Hunter
Dave Hunter Well, that wasn’t good. I thought I’d be sneaky and sly and submit five lineups under the DraftKings NFL $2M Mini Midseason Celebration [$100K to 1st] contest, where it’s only $4 to play. I thought for sure I’d cash out with a couple of my lineups. Nope. Ever hear of a DFS slump? I’m in one right now. I’m pressing on, and I’ll do the same deal-io in Week 11 and enter five lineups with the hopes of cashing out in the $1.2M Play-Action Contest. That’s the expectation anyway. All I can do is move on, right? It sure makes the successes I had last season seem like a distant memory. Ugh.

My best Week 10 lineup gave me 133.12 points:

Position Player; Team % Draft Fantasy Points
QB Ben Roethlisberger, PIT 8.8 31.42
RB Jordan Howard, CHI 16.4 12
RB David Johnson, ARI 47.8 27.1
WR Tyreek Hill, KC 6.2 20.1
WR DeAndre Hopkins, HOU 4.1 9.8
WR Jordan Matthews, PHI 18.3 13.3
TE Zach Ertz, PHI 9 11.5
FLEX Jonathan Stewart, CAR 8 3.9
DST Patriots 2 4
Total 133.12

I was pumping up Big Ben Roethlisberger all week and I’m at least thankful he came through for me, as well as Tyreek Hill. I’m not even going to count David Johnson’s production since he was expected to give owners a 20-plus output. I was geeky for Jonathan Stewart and DeAndre Hopkins, both miserable failures. My fault for still believing in Hopkins - dude, where are you?

QUARTERBACK
Top Level

Tom Brady, NE @ San Francisco 49ers ($7,800) – Brady is obvious, right? Sorry, have to list Brady here. I don’t even think the pricing is that out-of-this-world on Brady this week. I mean, normally I don’t like spending up at QB but I’m totally okay with it in Week 11. Sure, there are lots of attractive options at QB this week – I get it; however, there’s no reason for you to feel bad for spending up on Brady.
Other choices: Ben Roethlisberger, PIT @ Cleveland Browns ($7,500); Andrew Luck, IND vs. Tennessee Titans ($7,200)

Mid-Range

Marcus Mariota, TEN @ Indianapolis Colts ($6,700) – How about that Mariota boom. Mariota has really given DFS owners a nice under-the-radar option this season. What about this week? I see the same at a very reasonable price tag with a wonderful matchup at hand. Mariota is having a bust-out season and please don’t feel you have to shy away this week - love him in cash and tournaments.

Other choices: Eli Manning, NYG vs. Chicago Bears ($6,300); Kirk Cousins, WAS vs. Green Bay Packers ($5,800)

Value

Blake Bortles, JAC @ Detroit Lions ($5,400) – I know you’re not confident in Bortles. I get it, but this is a lovely matchup facing the Lions’ pass defense. And, even with the Jaguars issues this season Bortles has managed to put up 20.8 FPPG this season. He should be able to give DFS owners the average, right? I believe so and so should you. Lock him in where you’re not crazy about spending up at the QB slot.

Other choices: Alex Smith, KC vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($5,300)

Over-Value

Aaron Rodgers, GB @ Washington Redskins ($7,600) – I see no reason to roster Rodgers in your lineup in Week 11. The Redskins pass defense is highly underrated this year and Rodgers can’t keep up this sort of production as his team flails around him, right? Maybe I’m wrong but I’m betting I’m not.

RUNNING BACK
Top Level

Le’Veon Bell, PIT @ Cleveland Browns ($8,800) – Yep, its pile-on Cleveland time. Come on, if Bell isn’t a primo play this week, then when is he? Go ahead, divvy up. Bell’s running and receiving abilities are paramount to lineup construction in cash leagues. In GPP format I’d be hesitant to use Bell considering his usage will likely be through the roof.

Other choices: DeMarco Murray, TEN @ Indianapolis Colts ($8,200); Ezekiel Elliott, DAL vs. Baltimore Ravens ($8,000)

Mid-Range

LeSean McCoy, BUF @ Cincinnati Bengals ($6,900) – The Bengals defense is milquetoast right now. Man, I loved writing “milquetoast” right now. It’s true though, as they can’t stop anything. And, why not McCoy at a reasonable price tag facing a milquetoast defense? I love McCoy in Week 11 – how about you?

Other choices: LeGarrette Blount, NE @ San Francisco 49ers ($6,400); Spencer Ware, KC vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers ($6,000)

Value

James White, NE @ San Francisco 49ers ($4,800) – Have you written off James White? Don’t do it, not yet anyway. He’s bound to earn some extra time this week facing the 49ers. This won’t be a close game and White will get opportunities to touch the ball and likely snag a TD for anyone that decides to roster him. White isn’t a bad GPP play, although I can see rostering him in cash lineups mostly.

Other choices: Todd Gurley, LA vs. Miami Dolphins ($5,000)

WIDE RECEIVER
Top Level

Odell Beckham, Jr., NYG vs. Chicago Bears ($8,500) – Okay, I’m just not going to list another Pittsburgh Steelers player in the Top Level slot, so that means Antonio Brown misses out. Does Brown deserve to be here? I like Beckham better believe it or not. The matchup is just as good, if not better, and Beckham is on fire right now. Did you see that dance move on Monday Night Football?
Other choices: Mike Evans, TB @ Kansas City Chiefs ($8,100); T.Y. Hilton, IND vs. Tennessee Titans ($7,700)

Mid-Range

Julian Edelman, NE @ San Francisco 49ers ($6,300) – I’m piling on the San Francisco matchup. Do you blame me? Brady should be able to spread the ball around frequently enough to get Edelman the ball. Do I have a ton of confidence in him? I do, enough to get Edelman some exposure in my lineups.

Other choices: Donte Moncrief, IND vs. Tennessee Titans ($6,100); Doug Baldwin, SEA vs. Philadelphia Eagles ($5,700); Mike Wallace, BAL @ Dallas Cowboys ($5,500)

Value

Sterling Shepard, NYG vs. Chicago Bears ($4,700) – ODB scraps? Yeah, I’m okay with that in the right lineup. You have to figure someone else besides Beckham will get some opportunities to produce. I love Shepard this week as an under-the-radar play.

Other choices: Allen Hurns, JAC @ Detroit Lions ($4,100); Adam Humphries, TB @ Kansas City Chiefs ($3,900)

Over-Value

Allen Robinson, JAC @ Detroit Lions ($7,400) – I’ll just say it – I don’t trust the numbers from Robinson on a consistency level even with the solid matchup. I would avoid in cash lineups. Maybe Robinson could find his way into my GPP lineups, but at that $7.4K price? Eh.

TIGHT END
Top Level

Jordan Reed, WAS vs. Green Bay Packers ($5,900)
Delanie Walker, TEN @ Indianapolis Colts ($5,700)

Value

Dennis Pitta, BAL @ Dallas Cowboys ($3,600)
Julius Thomas, JAC @ Detroit Lions ($3,500)
