T.Y. Hilton 2021 Outlook
Hilton is returning to the Colts on a one-year, $10 million deal. It was the first time in his career that Hilton, who was drafted by the Colts in the third round in 2012, hit the open market. His departure felt possible but not inevitable, largely because the Colts were working with such an excess of cap space. With quarterback already answered through the Carson Wentz trade, the Colts still had a few other areas to address, with receiver being among the highest priorities. Hilton's resurgence in 2020 proved this isn't just some honorary signing of a fan favorite, either. After battling through injuries in recent seasons, Hilton was available for all but one game last year, helping the Colts finish 11-5. After five seasons of 1,000-plus yards (the last one coming in 2018 when he caught 76 passes for 1,270 yards with six scores), four Pro Bowl selections and four playoff victories, Hilton has earned that accolade. What about playing with a new QB? Early reports on that are good. In fact, former teammate Pat McAfee reports that Hilton recently had a throwing session with Wentz and the early results were "awesome." We'll be looking for more of that kind of talk as the season draws nearer.
