Dollar Free Agents 2017 Week 3

By Matthew Cherrin
Matthew Cherrin J.J. Nelson- WR- Cardinals
The Cardinals wide receiver J.J. Nelson has been making his way into fantasy owner’s starting lineups in the first two weeks of the season. He had a huge game against the Colts on Sunday hauling in five receptions for 120 yards and a touchdown. Nelson has been the most consistent Cardinals wide out thus far this year. He has 10 catches for 163 yards and two scored in the 2017 season. Since John Brown is dealing with a quad injury and future Hall-of-Famer Larry Fitzgerald is starting to look his age, Nelson might be the number one option in Arizona right now. Pick him up for a buck this week.

Chris Carson- RB- Seahawks
With the offense and running game seemingly in shambles last week, the Seahawks turned to rookie running back Chris Carson to carry the load against the 49ers in a 12-9 victory. Former running back Eddie Lacy was a healthy scratch, and Thomas Rawls was coming back from an ankle injury, so Carson got the majority of the carries recording 20 attempts for 93 yards. Seattle’s offense looked terrible against the 49ers until they got some consistent attempts by Carson late in the game. It’s safe to say that Carson is further ahead of C.J. Prosise on the depth chart and should be looked at seriously in keeper and dynasty leagues. Pick him up for a buck now and see if he turns into the number one back in Seattle in a few weeks.

Gerald Everett- TE- Rams
The rookie out of South Alabama Gerald Everett might be a player fantasy owners want to consider picking up in keeper and dynasty leagues. The Rams picked Everett in the second round and he is slowly becoming one of Quarterback Jared Goff’s favorite targets. Last week against the Red Skins, Everett had three reception for 95 yards before he had to exit in the third quarter with a thigh injury. He’s questionable for this week against the 49ers Thursday night, but fantasy owners should consider Everett for the long-haul. With the Goff and the Rams looking much better this year compared to the 2016 season, Everett will have plenty of opportunities to make himself a viable option for years to come. Pick him up now for a buck.

Trevor Siemian- QB- Broncos
The Denver quarterback Trevor Siemian is still available in most leagues. Last week against the Cowboys, he threw for 231 yards and four touchdowns. So far on the season, he has seven total touchdowns which leads all quarterbacks. The Broncos face the Bills this upcoming week, and Siemian should have plenty of opportunities to throw for more touchdowns when Denver’s defense shuts-down Buffalo’s terrible offense. Pick up and start Siemian for a buck this Sunday.

Javorius Allen- RB- Ravens
Baltimore running back Buck Allen had a productive game against the Browns last Sunday. He recorded 14 carries for 66 yards, and also caught five balls for 35 yards and a touchdown. Allen will be sharing the load with Terrence West for most for the season, but he out-touched West 19-10 and looked like the better player on Sunday. Baltimore will more than likely go with the running back with the hot hand, but both players should see plenty of opportunities to be the guy each week. The Ravens face the Jags this upcoming weekend, so you can pick up and start Allen this week for a buck if you have running back depth issues.

Rashard Higgins- WR- Browns
With Browns’ wide receiver Corey Coleman dealing with a broken hand for the second consecutive season, wide out Rashard Higgins looks like he will be the starter in Cleveland for this Sunday’s upcoming game against the Colts. Higgins looked like the only Browns’ player who could get anything going against Baltimore. Last week, Higgins had seven receptions for 95 yards. The Browns face the Colts’ defense in week 3, whose defense has allowed the third most passing yards in the first two weeks of the 2017 season. Pick up start Higgins this week if you had Coleman on your team.
