DFS Gut Plays week 2 2018

I’ve been a long time fantasy player spending hours a day pouring over rankings and all the articles I could read. Now, with daily fantasy, my passion has only grown for fantasy sports. This article will be passing along plays that standout to me after a week of consuming all that information.

Quarterbacks

Jimmy Garoppolo – San Francisco
SF -6, O/U 48
Rookie Sam Darnold was very efficient against the Lions last week throwing for 198 yards with two touchdowns on 21 attempts. This bodes well for Garoppolo and the 49ers offense who return home after just missing a few big plays against the Vikings defense. Tied for the second highest point total (IND @WAS) this could turn into a sneaky shootout if Matthew Stafford can put that Monday night affair fare behind him.

Running Backs

Dalvin Cook – Minnesota
PK, O/U 46
Cook totaled 22 touches week one (16 rush, 6 rec.). The workload and targets (7) were more than I expected and Cook handled it well totaling 95 yards. The game script could tilt in his favor if Aaron Rodgers sits for the Packers. With or without Rodgers I like Cook to take advantage of a defense that gave up 5.1 yards per-carry and 139 yards to the Bears.

Alfred Morris – San Francisco
I usually like more of a receiving threat out of my RB2 plays, but Morris has a TD staring him in the face. I trust in Kyle Shanahan to go right back to Morris in the red zone despite a week one fumble. Morris had three rushes inside the five which gained no yards on the Vikings defense. That won’t be the case against the Lions.

Dion Lewis – Tennessee
HOU -2.5, O/U 44.5
Lewis out carried Derrick Henry, 16-10, and received the second most targets on the team with eight. In the never ending opener at Miami Marcus Mariota injured his elbow and tight end Delanie Walker was lost for the season. I expect Lewis to maintain the target pace as an outlet against a Texans defense that held the Patriots to 3.9 yards/carry last week.

Receivers

Chris Hogan – New England
NE -1, O/U 45.5
Hogan ran 20 routes out of the slot week one which should provide him a better matchup against the Jacksonville secondary. The Patriots are down to James White and insert name here at running back. I trust in Tom Brady and Hogan will be a low owned WR with the potential to be a big part of the game plan.

Devin Funchess – Carolina
ATL -5.5, O/U 44.5
The splits for Funchess with and with-out Greg Olsen are well documented. Olsen is out and that means Funchess is back in play as the Panthers top target on the outside in Atlanta this weekend.

Marvin Jones – Detroit
As road dogs with a nonexistent running game all three Lions receivers are in play and if you have Stafford, it stings after week one, but you’re playing him week two. Jones saw fewer targets and ended up three catches short of Kenny Golladay and Golden Tate, but makes up for it with his big play potential. A bonus is Jones did see two targets inside the 10 on Monday night.

Tight Ends

Jack Doyle – Indianapolis
WAS -5.5, O/U 48
As Andrew Luck continues to gain confidence and strength in his arm the overall passing game will open up, but this weekend is the check down championship. Doyle caught seven-of-10 targets week one and I expect more of the same this weekend. Eric Ebron did get the week one TD, but I’m going with the volume all day, every day.

Emptying the Noggin’
• If you want to be different, Eli Manning with Odell Beckham Jr. on Yahoo. There’s nothing that points to Eli as a positive play, but if OBJ has a big game (See Green, A.J.) Manning is cashing in.
DeAndre Hopkins is my favorite ‘stud’ WR this weekend. Deshaun Watson will begin to find his groove between the ridiculous start last year and week one struggles this season.
• Speaking of Watson, a TE punt play is Ryan Griffin. 3-of-5 targets came inside the 20.
• The Chargers have a mouthwatering matchup in Buffalo. Tyrell Williams’s redemption TD and Austin Ekeler PPR flex.
Nick Foles out scores Ryan Fitzpatrick this weekend.
