Fantasy Thoughts 2016 Week 3

By Chad Stapley
Chad Stapley The Texans need to get the ball to Lamar Miller more often, especially when Brock Osweiler is playing as awful as he did against the Patriots. Miller ran the ball 21 times for 80 yards and he caught four passes for 27 yards. Miller has been nothing short of spectacular since he came to the Texans this offseason.
LeGarrette Blount has taken the RB1 slot for the Patriots by stronghold over the last two weeks. Blount ran the ball 24 times for 105 yards and two TDs. He looks truly unstoppable this season and he should be a fantasy football starter each week until he gives you a reason not to start him.

Carson Palmer is slowly becoming a QB2 as he is seemingly more and more turnover prone as of the last few seasons. Palmer threw four INTs against a Bills team that hadn’t won a game before Sunday. If the Cardinals are going to contend for the Super-bowl they can’t have Palmer playing this awful.

The Cardinals need to figure out more ways to get David Johnson the ball because he is an absolute star. He should be starting every week on any fantasy football team as he is a candidate to break a big run or take a reception to the house anytime he touches the ball. Johnson ran the ball 19 times for 83 yards and two TDs while also catching three passes for 28 yards. He was the lone bright spot in the Cardinals offense against the Bills.

LeSean McCoy finally had the type of game the Bills envisioned him having when they traded for him last season. McCoy looked unstoppable against an above average Cardinals defense. McCoy ran the ball 17 times for 110 yards with two TDs and he caught three passes. Start him while he is hot as he has big play ability each time he touches the ball.

Sam Bradford is proving to be a decent QB2 for the Vikings, he isn’t going to lead you to the Fantasy Football Championship but he is a good fill in QB when your starter has a bye. Bradford threw for 171 yards and one TD.

Kyle Rudolph seems to be Bradford’s favorite target as he caught seven passes for 70 yards and a TD. Rudolph is a TE to keep an eye on as he has the potential to be one of the best pass catching TEs in the NFL.

Cameron Artis-Payne & Fozzy Whittaker are going to be fighting each other for touches as Jonathan Stewart is out with an injury. Artis-Payne is the lead back as he got 13 touches to Whittaker’s 10 touches and he started but Whittaker is the guy with game breaking potential. Either guy is a decent choice to start at the FLEX position for your fantasy football team but don’t depend on them to be your starting RB.

Trevor Siemian finally found a favorite WR and Emmanuel Sanders is his guy. If Siemian can be half as good as he was against the Bengals each week the Broncos might not lose a game. He threw for 312 yards and four TDs in a win over the Bengals. He isn’t quite QB1 status yet but a few more games playing lights out like this then he can be considered a starter for your fantasy football team.

Emmanuel Sanders is loving the QB change as he caught nine passes for 117 yards and two TDs, he is merely a FLEX option right now as he is playing with a young QB but if he truly does become Siemian’s favorite target he can be your every week starter at WR1.

Demaryius Thomas looks better each week, this week he finally broke the 100 yard mark and caught his first TD of the season. The Broncos look like it is in their game plan to find ways to get him the ball. He is a fantasy football starter each week without a doubt.

Jeremy Hill is so hot and cold it is ridiculous. Hill had an amazing game this week running the ball 17 times for 97 yards and two TDs. He has the making of a RB1 but the Bengals switch between him and Giovani Bernard so often that neither of them gets the chance to get into a rhythm. Start him at your own risk, he could run for 150 yards on week and only have five touches the next week.

Raise your hand if you knew Marvin Jones Jr. would be the leading NFL WR through three weeks with 408 yards receiving. Exactly, no one could have predicted this based off a few years filled with teasing of untapped potential in Cincinnati. Jones absolutely embarrassed the Packers defense by catching six passes for 205 yards and two TDs. Jones should be a fantasy football starter every week as he is clearly Matthew Stafford’s favorite target.

Matthew Stafford is out to prove that it doesn’t matter if he doesn’t have Calvin Johnson, he is still an elite QB. Stafford has looked pretty darn good threw three weeks as he has thrown for 985 yards with seven TDs and only two INTs. He looks like he can be the QB to lead your fantasy football team on a championship run.

If the Lions didn’t have to play Aaron Rodgers they probably would have won the game. Rodgers had other plans as he threw for 205 yards and four TDs to calmly lead the Packers to a victory. Rodgers proves week in and week out that he is one of the best QBs in the NFL.

Eddie Lacy is looking dynamic yet again as he ran the ball 17 times for 103 yards. The fact that the Packers pass so much when they get in the Red-Zone should scare his fantasy football owners. He might not be much better than a FLEX option given the offense they run.

Jordy Nelson is a beast, he caught six passes for 101 yards and two TDs. He is a matchup nightmare for any CB and should absolutely be starting on every fantasy football roster out there.

It looks like Blake Bortles and the Jaguars offense still has not found the answer to break out of the offensive slump they are in. Bortles threw for just 194 yards with two TDs and three INTs. The fact that they have gotten almost nothing out of their running game doesn’t help much either.

Cody Kessler definitely gives the Browns something to hope for as he came in and threw for 244 yards with no INTs and no TDs. Kessler looks like he can lead the Browns offense to score some points. Keep an eye on him as the season goes on.

Terrelle Pryor Sr. looks like he is ready to be a major fantasy football contributor. He passed for 35 yards, ran the ball for 21 yards and a TD and he caught eight passes for 144 yards. It looks like the Browns have unveiled a diamond in the rough. If he is on your roster start him at the FLEX position.

Isaiah Crowell had another impressive performance by running the ball 15 times for 79 yards, he is looking more and more like the RB1 the Browns need him to be.

Ryan Tannehill needs to cut down on the turnovers, if he can do that the Dolphins are going to be a scary good team to watch on offense. Tannehill threw for 319 yards with three TDs and two INTs and a fumble. If he can limit his turnovers he has the offensive players to be an elite fantasy football QB.

Start Jarvis Landry on your fantasy football team each week as he is looking like a monster on the field. Landry caught seven passes for 120 yards and a TD.

DeVante Parker is another young Dolphins WR to keep an eye on as he is looking more dangerous each week, he finally caught a TD in week three.

Sterling Shepard might be the best rookie WR in this class, he has 233 receiving yards and two TDs through three weeks. He is already starter worthy on your fantasy football team.

Christine Michael ran the ball 20 times for 106 yards and two TDs. He might be ready to breakout for the Seahawks but watch his progress over the next few weeks as they were playing the hopeless 49ers.

Charles Sims looks like the real deal at RB for the Bucs. He ran the ball 13 times for 55 yards and a TD to go with six catches for 69 yards.

Adam Humphries is an undrafted WR for the Bucs who has started the last two games and is flourishing. Humphries caught nine passes for 100 yards this week and he has 201 yards receiving on the season already. He is a guy to watch.

Carson Wentz is embarrassing opposing defenses in his rookie season. Wentz has the Eagles sitting at 3-0 and he has 769 yards passing and five TDs with no turnovers on the season. The guy that got drafted ahead of him still has not played a real NFL snap.

Dak Prescott finally threw his first NFL TD and he has the Cowboys sitting at 2-1. Prescott has finally given the Cowboys their answer at QB. This week he dismantled the Bears by throwing for 248 yards and running for another 36 yards with a rushing TD. Prescott is already fantasy football starter worthy.
