Isaiah Crowell 2018 Outlook
Crowell agreed to a three year deal with the Jets this March, which seems to be an ideal situation for the versatile power back. Matt Forte, the Jets' second-leading rusher in 2017, has retired. Their leading rusher, Bilal Powell, turns 30 in October. For his part, Crowell has led Cleveland's rushing attack over his four-year career, accumulating 737 carries for 3,118 yards and 21 touchdowns, while catching 96 passes for 770 yards and one touchdown. According to ESPN's Mike Clay, only 20 backs have seen more targets during the span, and new teammate Bilal Powell -- often viewed as a standout pass-catcher -- has seen only 13 more targets than Crowell the past two seasons. As Bleacher Report noted, Crowell runs powerfully with a low pad level that enables him to keep balance through contact and fight for extra yards. He has the frame to withstand a heavier workload than he's had during his years in Cleveland, and with more carries he could wear down defenses late in games. Whichever QB earns the starting nod in New York, the Jets would like nothing better than Crowell providing them with a solid, early-down hammer capable of keeping the offense on schedule.
