Waiver Wire Targets 2018 Week 13

The waiver wire is key to surviving this long season filled with injuries and other factors that could change a player’s role on their offense. Each week I will provide you with a list of players you should be looking to add off of waivers. Let’s take a look at some of those players below.

Before we jump into it, I wanted to give a quick note – As we head down the stretch towards the end of the season, teams like the Rams, Chiefs, and/or Saints could potentially lock in their playoff spot and seeding. If that occurs, some of these teams could elect to sit some of their players and that could hurt fantasy owners, so preparing for that now is something I suggest you do. For example, if you own Kareem Hunt, make sure Spencer Ware is on your roster or Malcolm Brown if you own Todd Gurley. Take a look at snap counts over the course of the season and in recent weeks to see may receive the opportunity should anyone be rested at the end of the regular season. Prepare for the playoffs now, look at schedules, potential playoffs situations, and handcuffs that could see heavy usage if something were to occur.

Quarterback

Baker Mayfield – Browns: Mayfield has now thrown three or more touchdown passes in back-to-back games and has scored 20+ fantasy points in three consecutive games. Since the coaching changes in Cleveland, he has been much more efficient and looks more comfortable in the offense. Although the schedule is not all that great in the next few weeks, Mayfield appears to be clicking right now and it would not be surprising to see him continue to play well, even in subpar matchups. It is also worth noting that in Week 16 he faces off against the Bengals who he just torched this past weekend and that is the week where most fantasy championships are being played.

Others to consider: Lamar Jackson - Ravens

Running Back

Josh Adams – Eagles: I talked about picking up Adams last week and I will repeat it this week. He is still available in over 30 percent of ESPN leagues and should be added in all leagues at this time. His workload was trending in the right direction and this past week he received 22 carries. In the last two games he has found the end zone and has scored no less than 16 fantasy points in PPR formats. If he is still available in your league, make sure to scoop him up, as he appears to be the guy in Philly in the backfield.

Austin Ekeler – Chargers: Ekeler remains available in over 45 percent of ESPN leagues, so there is a chance you can still get him off of waivers in your league. With Melvin Gordon expected to miss a few weeks, Ekeler is expected to man the workload and operate as the lead back for the Chargers. When Gordon missed Week 7, Ekeler played on 42-of-44 snaps. Ekeler can run in between the tackles and has good hands out of the backfield, so he will be a reliable option for fantasy owners so long as Gordon is sideline. Justin Jackson will operate as the backup and could be considered a deep league flier off of waivers this week as well.

Others to consider: Gus Edwards – Ravens, Spencer Ware – Chiefs, Rex Burkhead – Patriots, Malcom Brown – Rams, Theo Reddick/LeGarrette Blount – Lions, Nyheim Hines - Colts

Wide Receiver

Adam Humphries– Buccaneers: Humphries is coming off of a nice week, catching 6-of-6 passes for 54 yards and a touchdown. He is not a sexy name in the industry, but he can certainly be helpful in PPR formats. In games that Jameis Winston has played all four quarters in this season, Humphries is averaging 6.3 targets per game and has scored double-digit fantasy points in all but one of those games. The Bucs are a pass first team and have some favorable matchups, as well as, potential game environments in the upcoming weeks, so Humphries could continue to see decent usage.

Josh Reynolds – Rams: Reynolds is still available in over 65 percent of ESPN leagues. He had his best game of the year in Week 11, catching six passes for 80 yards and a touchdown, scoring 20 fantasy points and draws a great matchup fresh out of the bye this week against a generous Lions secondary. Reynolds is operating as the third receiver in this high powered offense and his role should be stable moving forward. He has scored at least one touchdown in two of the three games that Kupp has missed this season. Reynolds is someone that could be very helpful for fantasy owners down the stretch.

Others to consider: Dante Pettis – 49ers, D.J. Moore – Panthers, Anthony Miller – Bears, David Moore - Seahawks

Tight End

Gerald Everett - Rams: Tight end has not been a pretty position all season long, as consistent production is hard to come by. So if you are searching for help at this position, you may want to search for upside, and Everett provides us just that. Prior to the bye week, he exploded for two touchdowns and 49 yards on three catches. It was the second consecutive game that he had found the pay dirt in. He is unlikely going to see heavy volume, but he does provide you with some upside and is part of one of the best, if not the best offense in football.

Others to consider: Jonnu Smith – Titans, Chris Herndon – Jets
