Waiver Wire Targets Week 6 2017

Week 5 was one filled with injuries and we are also dealing with bye weeks this week, so the waiver wire can become very helpful for fantasy owners. The Bengals, Bills, Cowboys, and Seahawks are all on bye this week. Then you have a number of players who suffered serious injuries, some who will miss the rest of the season and others who could be out a couple of games. Finding players to fill that void is what needs to be done. With that said, let’s take a look at some waiver wire targets for Week 6.

Quarterback

Jacoby Brissett – Colts: Brissett threw over 300 passing yards for the first time as a Colt in Week 5 against the Niners and now gets a favorable matchup against the Titans this week. Tennessee is allowing over 20 fantasy points per game to opposing quarterbacks. Brissett has topped 19 fantasy points in two of his last three games and makes for a very appealing streaming option this week for those who have a quarterback on bye or one in a bad matchup.

Running Back

Marlon Mack – Colts: Mack has now scored two touchdowns in three games this season and is coming off of a nice game, rushing for 91 yards and a touchdown on nine carries and catching a pass for two yards. Head coach Chuck Pagano said that Mack has earned a bigger role and this could cause him to continue eating into Frank Gore’s touches and playing time. Mack accounts for 18.2 percent of the red zone rushes, despite missing two games with a shoulder injury.

Elijah McGuire– Jets: McGuire could be in for a big workload as Bilal Powell deals with a calf strain and could miss this next game. As it is McGuire played in 68 percent of the Jets snaps in Week 5. The Jets face the Patriots in Week 6, who are yielding more than 28 fantasy points per game to opposing backs. If Powell ends up sitting, McGuire becomes a viable flex option.

Andre Ellington – Cardinals: Ellington has done very little in the run game, but has nine receptions in back-to-back games, and at least five in each of his last three. He has also played in at least 52 percent of the snaps in each of the last three games, leading all running backs for the Cardinals during that stretch. He has scored at least 13 fantasy points in three straight weeks (PPR formats) and is still available in 50 percent of ESPN leagues.

Others to consider: Aaron Jones – Packers; Matt Breida – 49ers; Alex Collins – Ravens; Latavius Murray – Vikings, Jerick McKinnon - Vikings

Wide Receiver

Roger Lewis – Giants: Four of the Giants receivers suffered injuries on Sunday, three of which will miss the remainder of the season and the other is deemed questionable for Week 6, leaving Roger Lewis to potentially operate as the Giants No. 1 receiver in their next game. He did not do much against the Chargers, but considering the situation, he should see a major boost in volume, making him an enticing add off of waivers.

Will Fuller V - Texans: Fuller is not a high-volume receiver, but has scored four touchdowns in his last two games since returning from a collarbone injury. Considering how well Deshaun Watson has played and how he and Fuller are connecting, Fuller should be owned in all formats. He cooled off after a hot start last season, but that may not be the case this year. The Texans face the Browns in Week 6, one of the better matchups a receiver can ask for. He offers nice upside and can be an asset to fantasy owners who need help at the receiver position.

Mike Wallace – Ravens: I really did not think I would be suggesting Wallace, but the fact of the matter is that he has been efficient in back-to-back games, totaling nine catches for 188 yards and a touchdown. He is not a high-volume receiver on a consistent basis, but still has the big play ability. For fantasy owners dealing with bye weeks and/or injuries, Wallace could be helpful.

Others to consider: Jermaine Kearse – Jets; Taylor Gabriel – Falcons; Nelson Agholor – Eagles

Tight End

Austin Seferian-Jenkins – Jets: Since returning from his suspension, Seferian-Jenkins has been solid. He has caught 15-of-18 targets for 106 yards and a touchdown. He has played in over 75 percent of the snaps in each of his last three games. It is clear that he will have a role on this offense and finding consistency at this position is not easy. We at least know that the volume should continue to be there for ASJ.

Others to consider: George Kittle – 49ers; Kyle Rudolph - Vikings
