Waiver Wire Targets Week 11 2017

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal Week 10 was filled with injuries which could leave fantasy owners searching for help in the waiver wire as we head into some crucial weeks of fantasy football with the playoffs approaching. After this week, there are no more byes, which make this a great time to bulk up your roster and add as much depth as possible. There are still some players out there that can help your fantasy teams, so let’s jump right into it and go over some of this week’s waiver wire targets.

Quarterback

Blake Bortles – Jaguars: Bortles attempted 51 passes in Week 10 and 38 passes in Week 9. He has scored at least 16 fantasy points in three consecutive games, eclipsing 18 fantasy points twice during that stretch and draws a very nice matchup in Week 11 against a Browns defense that has been generous to quarterbacks this season. It is never comforting rolling out Bortles because he is volatile, but if you are hurting at QB and need some help, he is a viable streaming option this week.

Others to consider: Teddy Bridgewater - Vikings

Running Back

Jamaal Williams – Packers: With injuries to Aaron Jones and Ty Montgomery, Williams could be in for a heavier workload. Jones is expected to miss 3-6 weeks, while Montgomery could play in Week 11, but he is dealing with a rib injury which can be tricky for running backs. Williams stepped into Sunday’s game after both Jones and Montgomery went down and received 20 carries. The Packers play against the Ravens in Week 11, a defense that has shown vulnerability against running backs this season. If Montgomery cannot give it a go, Williams could see another 20-touch game.

Samaje Perine - Redskins: Although Perine has not taken full advantage of the opportunities given to him this season with Kelley out, he will get another shot in the foreseeable future as Kelley is expected to miss multiple weeks. Perine should receive the early down work, as well as the goal line carries, with Chris Thompson working as the pass catcher. The Redskins still have games against the Saints, Giants, and Chargers, all defenses that have struggled against the run.

Others to consider: Rod Smith – Cowboys, Danny Woodhead – Ravens, Austin Ekeler - Chargers

Wide Receiver

Marqise Lee – Jaguars: Lee has received 10 or more targets in three of his last four games and has scored a touchdown in back-to-back games. He has also scored over 10 fantasy points in four straight games (PPR formats). The Jaguars play the Browns in Week 11, a defense that is giving up over 27 fantasy points per game to receivers. Lee is owned in 42.6 percent of ESPN leagues, making him available in over half of the leagues. The Jags still have matchups against the Colts, 49ers, Browns, and Texans, all of which have been susceptible against receivers. His role on this offense is solidified and can be considered a flex play in PPR leagues moving forward, assuming the volume remains the same.

Jamison Crowder – Redskins: Crowder has reemerged himself as the go-to receiver in Washington, receiving at least 11 targets in two consecutive games. Kirk Cousins clearly feels comfortable throwing to Crowder, so we can see this type of volume moving forward. There are some favorable matchups left on the schedule for the Redskins, so Crowder can be a serviceable receiver in PPR formats in upcoming weeks. So long as the volume remains consistent, Crowder will be an asset to fantasy owners.

Others to consider: Corey Coleman – Browns, Josh Gordon – Browns (stash)

Tight End

Charles Clay – Bills: Clay returned to action last week after being out since Week 5 with a knee injury. He caught 2-of-3 targets for 13 yards, but I would not be concerned about that as the entire Buffalo offense struggled in Week 10. Prior to his injury, Clay was off to a nice start to the season, scoring at least 15 fantasy points in three of his first four games (PPR formats). He has always been a security blanket for Tyrod Taylor and that is something I expect to see moving forward. Buffalo has some favorable tight end matchups down the stretch, which bodes well for Clay.

Others to consider: Julius Thomas - Dolphins
