Free Agent Roundup: Tannehill Traded To Dolphins & More
The free agent signing period rolls on -- albeit it at a slower pace than we've seen the past two days. Nonetheless, moves are ongoing.

In Tennessee. ... The Miami Dolphins traded quarterback Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titans, Tannehill's agency Sports Trust Advisors announced Friday.

As NFL.com's Herbie Teope reported, Tannehill has signed a new one-year contract for $7 million guaranteed and worth up to $12 million with incentives. The Dolphins are receiving a seventh-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and a 2020 fourth-round pick.

The Titans also received a 2019 sixth-round pick in the swap.

Tannehill's time in Miami was coming to a close with a new regime in place. And his departure doesn't come as a big surprise when considering reports surfaced that the team was expected to go a different direction at the quarterback position under head coach Brian Flores.

To that part, the Dolphins recently hosted quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on a free-agent visit before Bridgewater elected to re-sign with the New Orleans Saints.

Tannehill entered the league in 2012 as the eighth overall pick with the Dolphins, but he never lived up to his lofty draft status. He posted a 42-46 record over six seasons, while throwing for 20,434 yards and 123 touchdowns with 75 interceptions. He departs Miami with a career 62.8 completion percentage and an 87 passer rating, and left money on the table. Before the trade, Tannehill had two years remaining on his contract and would've been paid a base salary of $18.7 million in 2019 and $19.4 million in 2020.

A fresh start, though, could work out for Tannehill, who turns 31 on July 27, as he won't have the pressure typically associated with a starting quarterback.

Marcus Mariota is currently the Titans' franchise quarterback and Tannehill projects as Mariota's primary backup.

Worth noting. ... The Titans subsequently released backup Blaine Gabbert. ...

In a semi-related note. ... Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com reports that Colin Kaepernick is interested in the now-open Dolphins job.

“Yes, he’s training hard and ready to play,” a source close to the quarterback told La Canfora.

Tannehill's departure -- and the club's failure to land Teddy Bridgewater -- leaves only Luke Falk and Jake Rudock at quarterback. Falk and Rudock have combined for five regular-season attempts, so Miami obviously is in the quarterback market.

As Profootballtalk.com's Charean Williams noted, bridge quarterbacks still are available in free agency, including Brock Osweiler, Ryan Fitzpatrick and Blake Bortles (who was slated to visit the Rams on Monday_, with the Dolphins expected to draft their franchise quarterback either this spring or in 2020.

In Oakland. ... The Raiders have added their third wide receiver of the week. The team announced that they signed J.J. Nelson, the former Cardinals wideout, joins Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams in a receiving corps that’s been overhauled over the last few days.

Nelson was a fifth-round pick in 2015 and played in 56 games for the Cardinals over the last four seasons. He saw a lot of time on offense in 2016 and 2017, but his role dropped significantly last season and Nelson finished his time in Arizona with seven catches for 64 yards in 14 appearances.

Seth Roberts, Marcell Ateman and Keon Hatcher round out the receivers under contract in Oakland right now.

In Denver. ... Jeff Heuerman is re-signing with the Broncos. Per 9New.com's Mike Klis, the contract has a max value of $9 million over two years and the Broncos have their starting tight end back.

Heuerman missed his entire rookie season (2015) with the Broncos after suffering a torn ACL in his very first rookie minicamp. Upon his return to the field in 2016, Heuerman played 12 games, again struggling with injuries. That was an unfortunately common theme for him throughout his time in Denver, which included somewhat of a breakout season in 2018. Heuerman caught 31 passes for 281 yards this past season after missing a good chunk of training camp, catching two touchdown passes and proving himself as a solid all-around option. Then, the injury bug bit hard again, and Heuerman suffered fractured ribs.

Heading into this season, it's worth remembering new QB Joe Flacco's affinity for throwing to the tight end position.

In Jacksonville. ... Following the most prolific season of his Dallas Cowboys career, tight end Geoff Swaim is signing with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

In four years with the Cowboys, Swaim appeared in 37 games tallying 35 receptions, 336 yards and one touchdown. His best statistical season came last year when he played and started nine games. He finished with 26 receptions for 242 yards and a touchdown before fracturing a bone in his wrist in the team's 22-19 win over Atlanta on Nov. 18.

In Chicago. ... The Bears signed wideout Marvin Hall, Jr. The former Falcon is one of the fastest players in the NFL. He appeared in all 16 games last season, registering 10 catches for 149 yards and one touchdown.

As USA Today suggested, Hall will bring more speed to special teams, where he returned 26 kickoffs for 616 yards in 2018.

Hall was signed by the Raiders as an undrafted free agent out of Washington in 2016. He was waived by Oakland at the end of training camp and spent the last few weeks of the season on the Cardinals practice squad. He joined the Falcons practice squad in 2017, earning a promotion to the active roster in October that year.

Hall isn’t expected to factor much in the passing game, but his speed will give Matt Nagy yet another weapon to have some fun with in training camp and the preseason. He was recorded at 23 MPH last year.

In San Francisco. ... Despite strong interest elsewhere, Raheem Mostert agreed to a three-year deal with the 49ers.

Mostert appeared in each of the team’s first nine games of the 2018 season and registered 34 carries for 261 yards and one touchdown while adding six receptions for 25 yards. Mostert also tied for the team lead with seven tackles on special teams. He was placed on the Injured Reserve List on November 2, 2018.

He'll continue to work primarily as a special teamer behind Tevin Coleman, Jerick McKinnon and Matt Breida.

In New York. ... The Jets have signed a familiar face -- and foot -- in Chandler Catanzaro, who spent last year with the Buccaneers and Panthers after playing with the Jets in 2017.

Catanzaro converted 83.3 percent of his kicks with the Jets, one of which was a franchise-long 57 yards at Cleveland, and made 100 percent of his extra points. He signed a multi-year deal with the Bucs last offseason but was let go in November after converting 73.3 percent of his field goals (11-for-15) and 85.2 percent of his extra points (23-for-27).

Catanzaro was picked up a month later and finished the season strong as he connected on all of his field goals and extra points in four games with the Panthers.
