DFS Week 2 Flex Targets DraftKings 2018

The flex position really adds a unique dynamic to lineup construction as you can plug in a receiver, running back, or even a tight end. Using the flex position wisely can allow you to differentiate and create unique lineups. Every week calls for different situations, so depending on what the slate gives you and pricing, will determine on how you utilize this position. As usual, I’ll go over some players that I am targeting in the main slate this weekend that can be plugged into the flex spot.

Running Back

Dion Lewis $5,000 vs. Houston Texans
Last week’s game in Miami was a mess due to the weather delays, but that did not prevent Lewis from turning in a strong performance. He rushed 16 times for 75 yards and a touchdown, adding five receptions for 35 yards, which was good for 22 DKFP. His role in this passing game is locked in and with Delanie Walker out, one can only expect more targets for Lewis. The Texans yielded 10 receptions for 71 yards to the Patriots running backs last week, so this is a matchup that Lewis could cash in on. In addition, the initial lines have the Texans as slight favorites so the game script could play into Lewis’ favor this week. At this price, I have plenty of interest.

Isaiah Crowell $4,600 vs. Miami Dolphins
I am not a Crowell guy, but this is a really good spot for him. The Dolphins allowed over 100 rushing yards in Week 1 to the Titans, and that is not including a 50+ yard touchdown by Derrick Henry that got called back because of a holding penalty. This defense bled yards on the ground last season as well, giving up nearly 100 rushing yards per game. Last week Crowell was able to make some big plays and get the most out of his touches. While I am not expecting him to score twice this week, I do think he can find success at a very low price in a plus matchup. The Jets are favorites at home, so the game script could favor him.

Wide Receiver

Nelson Agholor $6,100 at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Agholor did not have a great fantasy outing to start the season, scoring just 13.5 DKFP, but the good news is that he received 10 targets in that game. This week he draws a far better matchup against arguably the worst secondary in the league. In fact, the Bucs came into the season ranked 31st by Pro Football Focus and allowed 268 receiving yards to the Saints wide outs last week. Tampa Bay also surrendered the most receiving yards to opposing receivers last season. Agholor should see plenty of M.J. Stewart this weekend, who ranks well below average on Pro Football Focus, and it is a matchup that Agholor has a 56 percent advantage rating in. I am expecting Agholor to be more efficient this week, at a very reasonable price.

Demaryius Thomas $5,600 vs. Oakland Raiders
While most people will be looking in Emmanuel Sanders’ direction this week (I like him plenty too), I am planning on investing more in Thomas. For starters, he is $100 cheaper this week than he was last despite being peppered with 10 targets, catching six of them for 63 yards, and finding the end zone. This week he has an even better matchup against the Raiders secondary who came into the season ranked 24th by Pro Football Focus and did not play well against the Rams last week. Thomas is expected to see coverage from Rashaan Melvin this weekend, a matchup he has a 23 percent advantage rating in. He should have another productive outing and could go under owned with all the attention on Sanders. Lastly, this is just too cheap of a price tag for a receiver like Thomas in a situation like this one.

Tight End

Jared Cook $3,800 at Denver Broncos
Some may consider it chasing points, but Cook is once again in a good spot. I am not expecting the beastly performance we saw last week, however, I do think he could once again exceed expectations and pay off, what I consider, too cheap of a price. The Broncos have strong outside coverage, but as we saw in Week 1, they can struggle in the middle of the field. Last week, they gave up 116 yards to the Seahawks tight ends. I think that Jon Gruden is a smart coach and will try to expose a weakness of an opposing defense, so I am expecting him to utilize Cook often again in this contest. In addition, this should be a game where the Raiders are chasing points considering they are on the road and their defense is not good. Even though he is likely going to be extremely popular, Cook at this price makes a lot of sense.
