Free Agency Roundup: Ronald Jones Heading To Kansas City
Free agent moves are definitely slowing as we've only had a couple of fantasy-relevent moves in the last two days.

We'll start in Kansas City, where thee Chiefs continued their offensive additions after the Tyreek Hill trade.

The reigning AFC West champs plan to sign former Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones to a one-year contract worth up to $5 million, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero first reported.

Jones, 24, was a second-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2018. He started 25 games in four seasons with the Bucs. He led the team in rushing yards in 2019 (724) and 2020 (978). He also caught 76 passes in the four seasons with a best of 31 in 2019.

But he fell from favor with his coaches after the Bucs signed Leonard Fournette during the 2020 season. Jones last season started three games and had 428 rushing yards and 10 receptions.

The Chiefs needed help at running back with Clyde Edwards-Helaire being the only proven player at the position under contract. Their leading rusher in 2021, Darrel Williams, and their top playoff rusher from last season, Jerick McKinnon, are unrestricted free agents.

Jones is expected to compliment Edwards-Helaire as a change-of-pace back for a Chiefs offense that finished middle of the pack in 2021 with 115.0 rushing yards per game. Those numbers suggest this offense could use more ground-game consistency to help puncture defenses that sit back against Patrick Mahomes.

The signing of Jones comes days after the Chiefs inked wideout Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who is poised to replace Hill. In addition to the signing of WR JuJu Smith-Schuster, Jones will be another new face in Kansas City's high-flying offense.

In New York. ... The Jets signed Greg Zuerlein.

The veteran placekicker most recently played with the Cowboys in 2020-21, connecting on 63 of his 76 (82.9 percent) field goal attempts.

Zeurlein, a sixth-round pick of the Rams in 2012, has totaled 1,131 career points and made 82.2 percent of his field goal attempts (264 of 321) in 151 career regular-season games. Zuerlein has also been good on 95.8 percent of his career PATs although that number dropped to 87.5% in 2021.

Known for his leg strength, "Greg the Leg" was the first player in NFL history to make two 58-plus yard field goals in the same game and the first kicker to nail a 50-plus-yarder and 60-plus yarder in the same game. His touchback percentage last season was 80 percent and Zuerlein is 79 percent (65 of 82) on his field goals from 40-49 yards and 55 percent (38 of 69) on his field goal attempts from 50-59 yards.

In seven postseason games, Zuerlein has made 9 of his 11 FG tries.

Last year, however, he was mediocre last year on both field goals and kickoffs.

Still, the Jets hope he can be more accurate on field goals than their own kickers were: They went through three of them, with Matt Ammandola struggling for most of the year, Alex Kessman being a disaster for one game, and Eddy Pineiro finishing the season.
