Recapping the Injuries week 15 2017

By Armando Marsal
Armando Marsal Week 14 was filled with injuries and some notable players went down. It is brutal to see weeks like these, especially as we head into the fantasy football playoffs. As I do every week, I will breakdown this past week’s injuries and the impact that they can have moving forward. Let’s jump right into it.

Carson Wentz – Eagles: Wentz took a big hit as he dove into the end zone for a touchdown. The play was called back because of a penalty and he stayed in the game to throw a touchdown pass, leaving immediately after into the locker room and being ruled out for the rest of the game. It was announced on Monday that Wentz tore his ACL and he will miss the remainder of the season. This is a huge blow to the Eagles, Wentz, and his fantasy owners as we are in the fantasy playoffs. Nick Foles will start in his place and can be considered a top waiver priority as the Eagles have a favorable schedule to end the season. We wish Wentz a healthy and speedy recovery, and hope he comes back strong next year as he was truly playing some outstanding football.

Josh McCown – Jets: McCown left Sunday’s game with a broken hand and after getting two different opinions, it has been determined that he needs hand surgery and will miss the rest of the season. This is a sad ending to a nice season for McCown who exceeded expectations. He is set to hit the free agency market next season and could have made a case for himself to get picked up by a team after the season he had.

Tom Savage – Texans: Savage left Sunday’s game after suffering a head injury and what appeared to be a seizure on the field. It was a scary moment as a fan of the game. He was cleared from the protocol and came back in the game, but they pulled him out in the next drive and Savage was later announced out with a concussion. He will have to clear the protocol to get back into action and if he is not cleared in time, T.J. Yates will get the start in Week 15 against the Jaguars.

Nathan Peterman – Bills: Peterman was filling in for the injured Tyrod Taylor (knee) and was knocked out of Sunday’s game with a concussion. He is currently in the league’s protocol and will need to clear it before stepping back on the field. Taylor appears to be making progress, so there is a good chance he will be under center for the Bills in Week 15.

Amari Cooper – Raiders: Cooper was questionable heading into Week 14 with an ankle injury and ended up leaving the game after aggravating his left ankle. No updates regarding the injury have been announced, so this is something to keep a close eye on throughout the week and chances are that he will sit out of practice until later in the week. The Raiders face off against the Cowboys in Week 15, a defense that has been generous to opposing wide outs, which would be a favorable matchup for Cooper.

Kelvin Benjamin – Bills: Benjamin injured his knee in Sunday’s win over the Colts. He was cleared to play late in the fourth quarter, but limped off the field after his first play back and never returned. This is the same knee that has given him trouble and although he has played through it, his Week 15 status is up in the air. On Monday, Coach Sean McDermott said it was “too early to tell” if Benjamin will play in Week 15. It is a situation worth monitoring, but fantasy owners should begin to prepare to be without Benjamin this week.

Alvin Kamara – Saints: Kamara left early in the first quarter of Thursday night’s game with a concussion. He was off to a great start, catching three passes for 25 yards and rushing for two, prior to the injury. On Monday, it was reported that Kamara expects to play this week, but it is not official. The good news is that he gets several extra days to rest since the Saints played on Thursday. He still needs to be cleared from the protocol in order to suit up this week.
