Following up on this week's
Team Notes. ...
Jacoby Brissett ultimately was held out from the Indianapolis Colts' Week 10 loss to the Miami Dolphins after the coaching staff determined the QB would only be able to play at 80 percent due to a knee injury.
Brissett didn't love the decision but had faith in head coach Frank Reich to do what's best for the team and himself.
"I felt like I was getting better each day," Brissett said Tuesday, via the Indy Star. "It was a coach's decision. He made the decision that he thought was best for myself and for the team. It's his job, I guess, to protect myself from myself."
The Colts hoped all week that Brissett could start, before downgrading him to out on Saturday.
Brian Hoyer got the start and struggled mightily as Indy fell to the one-win Dolphins at home.
But the Colts got some positive news when Brissett was a full participant in practice Wednesday.
Reich had previously said Brissett would be the starter Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars if he got in a full session Wednesday.
He'll be back in the starting lineup against Jacksonville on Sunday barring any kind of setback.
Meanwhile,
T.Y. Hilton (calf), tight end
Jack Doyle (shoulder), tight end
Mo Alie-Cox (hip) and
Parris Campbell (hand) all sat out Wednesday.
Parris will certainly miss this week's game and Hilton's return from his injury remains unclear.
Devin Funchess officially made his return to the practice field on Wednesday for the first time in 68 days.
The veteran wide receiver was placed on injured reserve on Sept. 10 after suffering a clavicle injury late in the Colts' Week 1 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but on Wednesday was officially designated by the team to return to practice from IR.
Funchess, sporting a red (no-contact) jersey, did indeed participate in today's practice, setting in motion a 21-day window for the team to decide whether to return him to the active roster or revert him to IR for the rest of the season.
Reich said Funchess still has a few boxes to check before he can gain full clearance, including the more physical aspects of the position.
