Parris Campbell 2021 Outlook
While the Colts have a deep receiving corps, the return of Campbell, who was limited to just two games last season after suffering a knee injury in Week 2 against the Vikings, will be worth watching. ... According to local observers, Campbell’s rehab is on track and he is expected to be a full-go for off-season workouts and training camp, which is huge since he'll be working with a new quarterback in Carson Wentz. According to Fansided.com, the two new teammates have already worked together in a throwing session. Remember, the Colts' coaching staff was excited about Campbell throughout training camp last year, seemingly hinting that he was poised for a monster sophomore year. Then he led the team with six catches for 71 yards on nine targets in the regular-season opener. But availability has been an issue. Remember, the 2019 second-round pick went under the knife to repair a hernia, fractured foot and fractured hand as a rookie before last year's knee injury. But Campbell is young, clearly talented and capable of handling a slot role in a great offensive scheme. So once we get past the fact he's only played in nine games over his first two seasons, there's ample reason for those in deeper leagues to consider him.
Parris Campbell 2020 Outlook
The Colts have high hopes for wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. after taking him in the second round of this year's draft, but he isn't the only young receiver they hope to see stepping up alongside T.Y. Hilton this season. Indianapolis drafted Campbell in the second round last year but didn't get a lot out of him as a rookie. Campbell’s failure to launch last year hasn't dimmed HC Frank Reich's enthusiasm about what he brings to the table. "I'm super pumped about Parris and his upside," Reich said. Campbell dealt with a variety of injuries, including a broken foot that ended his season, and caught 18 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown in seven games. He only earned 24 targets and averaged a paltry 5.3 yards per target. Reich said that this season Campbell will play more in the slot than he did as a rookie. Presumably that would put Pittman and Hilton on the outside of an offense the Colts hope catches fire with Philip Rivers now at quarterback. Still, as CBSSports.com suggests, much like he was going into his rookie year, Campbell is basically a late-round lottery ticket with more theoretical upside than anything else -- and that's assuming he continues to work ahead of Zach Pascal, who flashed at times last year.
