Following up on this week's
Team Notes. ... Wide receiver
Dante Pettis sustained an apparent injury to his left knee early in Wednesday’s practice, casting doubt on his availability for at least the 49ers’ game Sunday at Baltimore.
Pettis, after being evaluated on the field by the team’s medical staff, was able to walk on his own to the locker room and was subsequently listed as a limited participant..
Pettis apparently got hurt during a special-teams drills. It’s the latest setback in a sullen second season.
He has no catches in the past three games and just 11 all season for 109 yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile,
Emmanuel Sanders (ribs) and
Deebo Samuel (shoulder) practiced in a limited capacity Wednesday with blue jerseys signifying no contact is permitted.
Both were in the lineup against Green Bay last Sunday after being listed as questionable to play in the game.
Tight end
George Kittle (knee, ankle) also played in that game, but did not practice for what head coach Kyle Shanahan called precautionary reasons.
Running back
Matt Breida resumed practicing after missing the past two games with an ankle injury.
Breida's absence has left
Tevin Coleman,
Raheem Mostert and
Jeff Wilson to handle the backfield duties for the NFC West leaders.
Also not participating were left tackle Joe Staley (finger) and defensive end Dee Ford (hamstring), both of whom still might play Sunday at Baltimore.
On a positive note. ... The 49ers are optimistic that
Robbie Gould (quad) will return this week. The veteran kicker worked fully on Wednesday.
