Jeremy Maclin is no longer among the unemployed. The veteran wide receiver signed a two-year with the Baltimore Ravens, the team announced Monday.

As NFL.com noted, the agreement comes after Maclin visited with the team Thursday following a meeting with the Bills earlier in the week. In addition to the Ravens and Bills, the Browns also were interested in possibly signing the 29-year-old after he was released by the Chiefs on June 2. And it appears there was one other.

Josina Anderson of ESPN.com reports that Maclin’s decision came down to the Ravens and the Eagles. This despite the team's claim last week that they weren't interested in adding Maclin “at this time.”

As Profootballtalk.com's Mike Florio noted, it’s unclear why the Bills didn’t become finalists for Maclin. Regardless, the public recruitment of Maclin by key Bills players like running back LeSean McCoy and quarterback Tyrod Taylor creates the impression that the Bills “lost” the chase for Maclin, and it invites speculation as to whether McCoy, Taylor, or other Bills will resent the team’s decision not to do whatever it had to do to get him — especially if Maclin performs at a high level in Baltimore.

Of course, the Ravens’ interest in Maclin came as no surprise as the retirement of Steve Smith and latest hip injury for tight end Dennis Pitta had robbed Joe Flacco of two top targets in the passing game from last season. The team also lost Kamar Aiken and receiving fullback Kyle Juszczyk in free agency.

Those four players drew a combined 277 targets last season.

Maclin caught 44 passes for 536 yards and two touchdowns over 12 games last season. In the two years prior, he hauled in 172 catches for 2,406 yards and 18 touchdowns. He will now join Mike Wallace and Breshad Perriman as the top wideouts in Baltimore.

But he won't necessarily be alone.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter tweeted that the Ravens remain in the "running" for Eric Decker.

Jets General Manager Mike Maccagnan confirmed last week the team would trade or cut Decker. The Ravens reportedly have talked to the Jets about the Decker, according to multiple reports.

Another addition would be understandable with Michael Campanaro, Chris Moore and Keenan Reynolds as the next men up on the depth chart.

We'll continue to watch for more on that. In the meantime, fantasy owners shouldn't go overboard on Maclin. It would be wise to see how his role develops before investing, but there could be value to be had.
