PITTSBURGH STEELERS UPDATE

lCONNER LIMITED TO OPEN THE WEEK; EDMUNDS HELD OUT

Following up on this week's Team Notes. ... The Steelers began preparation for Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Rams today and did so with several players back in the mix.

While he wasn’t a full-go, James Conner did practice, listed as limited as he is coming off a shoulder injury that sidelined him a week ago.

“We’re going to let his participation this week be our guide, in terms of his availability,” head coach Mike Tomlin said of Conner during his weekly press conference. “He’s probably going to be limited some in the early portions of the week. We will expect him to perk up as the week evolves and then make decisions accordingly.”

As Steelers.com's Teresa Varley noted, with Conner out against the Colts last week it was Jaylen Samuels who stepped into the starting role, his first game back after having his knee scoped. Samuels said is feeling even stronger now and is ready for whatever is asked of him this week.

“I felt good (last week),” said Samuels. “For my second game back, I will feel even more comfortable. My body is feeling better. I am still taking the same approach, still taking treatment, still recovering.

“I feel good. If I am called upon this week, I am ready for whatever.”

Also at running back Benny Snell (knee) has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game by Tomlin and Trey Edmunds is nursing a rib injury that had him a spectator at practice on Wednesday. Roosevelt Nix is dealing with a knee injury and he also didn’t practice on Wednesday.

The Steelers activated running back Tony Brooks-James before the Colts game and he said he will be ready again this week if needed.

“Just coming in I feel good with the practices I have had,” said Brooks-James. “I am going to help out however I can.”

Ryan Switzer, bothered by a back injury, didn’t practice on Wednesday, while Vance McDonald, Maurkice Pouncey and Mark Barron were all held out, none of them injury related.

I'll continue to follow up.
