This week was not as bad as it was last week from an injury standpoint, but we still saw some injuries that can cause a significant impact to teams and also provide opportunities to other players. As I do every week, below I will go over some of the injuries that occurred this weekend and how it can affect certain situations on offenses.

Carson Palmer – Cardinals: Palmer exited Sunday’s game in the second quarter and never returned as he suffered a broken arm. Initial reports suggest that he will require surgery, but he will be getting a second opinion. If he does need surgery, he could be out for roughly eight weeks, putting his season in danger. Drew Stanton gets the first shot at starter duties in Arizona during Palmer’s absence, while Blain Gabbert will serve as his backup.

Jay Cutler – Dolphins: Cutler suffered cracked ribs in Sunday’s game against the Jets and is expected to miss 2-3 weeks. Matt Moore stepped into the game and led the team to a comeback victory. He will get the start during Cutler’s absence, but coach Adam Gase said he is sticking with Cutler as the starter when he is healthy. The Dolphins play the Ravens in Week 8, so Moore finds himself in a tough matchup, but could be considered a streaming option in Week 9 against the Raiders.

C.J. Prosise – Seahawks: Prosise suffered an ankle injury in Sunday’s matchup against the Giants. He had missed the previous two games with an ankle injury, so this aggravation sets him back. His status for Week 8 is unknown at this time.

Mike Wallace – Ravens: Heading into Week 7, Wallace was questionable with a back injury and then suffered a concussion, knocking him out of Sunday’s game. This is a tough blow for the Ravens who are already thin with pass catchers. Wallace will have to clear the protocol before being able to return to action. Both Griff Whalen and Chris Moore played in 89 percent of the snaps, but Moore led the receivers with eight targets and could continue to see an increased role if Wallace misses time.

Delanie Walker – Titans: Walker suffered an ankle injury during overtime of Sunday’s game and it is now being considered a bone bruise. He was seen on crutches after the game, but appears to have dodged a serious injury. The Titans have a bye in Week 8, which comes at a perfect time, giving Walker an extra week to get healthier. At this time it does not appear that he will miss any games, but it is a situation worth monitoring.
