Logan Thomas is a guy you are about to hear about non-stop for the next couple of weeks leading up to the NFL Draft, especially if Thomas continues to wow scouts with his athletic abilities. How does a guy that held sixteen D1 Scholarship offers and was rated as the #8 Athlete in the class of 2009 perform in such a mediocre way over his three years as the starting QB for the Virginia Tech Hokies? Thomas is a freak of an athlete; He is 6’6 and weighs 248 lbs. and he still runs the 40 yard dash in a whopping 4.61 seconds.

With this much athleticism and talent I was curious as to why Thomas had such an average career for the Hokies. The plain and simple answer I could see is that they had absolutely no talent at WR over the last four years. Dating back to the 2010 NFL Draft Virginia Tech has had just two WR’s drafted; Danny Coale in the 5th round of 2012 and Corey Fuller in the 6th round of the 2013 draft. Neither player has yet to accumulate a stat in the NFL which brings me to my next question. Is Logan Thomas about to catch the NFL by surprise when he actually has somewhat of a decent group of WR’s to throw to? All the physical tools and necessities are there, it seems like he was just missing someone to throw the ball to.

Over his three starting seasons at VT Thomas threw for an average of 2,965 yards with 18 TDs to 13 INTs and completed 55.8% of his passes. Looking at those numbers and comparing it to who Thomas actually had to throw the ball to, you are left thinking is Thomas going to be the breakout QB from this class? This has been called one of the greatest QB draft classes in NFL History and Thomas might just add to the legacy of the class of 2014 NFL QBs.
