Long-Term Contract Talks Between Adams, Packers Break Down
As NFL.com framed it, "The Packers have other fish to fry than just Aaron Rodgers. ..." After months of negotiations, star wideout Adams and Green Bay have broken off long-term extension talks with no current plans to resume them, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

The two sides have found themselves in a bad place after the club's proposals did not involve Adams becoming the highest-paid wideout in the league, Rapoport added. Adams is heading into the final year of his contract, and it's looking more and more likely that he'll be hitting free agency in 2022.

NFL.com's Nick Shook reminds readers this is far from the first time two given parties were unable to reach an agreement on an extension before an existing deal expires, but this news is significant because of what preceded it. Rodgers hasn't been happy with Packers management for months now, and with his top teammate now displeased with the same group of front office executives, Adams' representation and the Packers have also stopped communicating.

For what it's worth, Adams told reporters last month he won't hold out because he doesn't want to get fined, so there's no concern about whether he'll get to work this year.

But this could be his last year in Green Bay.

As Profootballtalk.com reminded readers, Adams and his Fresno State teammate Derek Carr have flirted with joining forces on the Raiders next year.

We're a long way from that happening, but Adams' contract is a situation that bears monitoring, and may continue to bear monitoring into next year.
