Elijah Moore 2023 Outlook
It took Moore just 27 games to wear out his welcome with the New York Jets, and now he has a new start with Cleveland after an off-season trade. Moore requested a trade during last season as he was unhappy with his role. The third-year pro will receive an opportunity to be a key cog in the Deshaun Watson-based offense on the shores of Lake Erie. Moore's speed will give him a chance to make a quick impact. Of course, the expectations were the same in New York where Moore started 15 games and produced just one 100-yard game -- a 141-yard effort against the Miami Dolphins during his rookie season. Moore's top yardage game last season was 64 when he never got things together. While the Jets were bottoming out as a team, Moore had just five catches for 44 yards over the final three games. The Browns are hoping the chance of scenery can help. They see Moore's speed being a key to helping Watson stretch the field and also view him as a crucial building block in the team's plan.
Elijah Moore 2022 Outlook
As 24/7Sports.com noted, at times during Moore's rookie season, he looked as good as any receiver in the NFL. Now ESPN predicts that the second-year wideout will be a full-fledged breakout candidate with a healthy second season. "His rookie season ended early due to a leg injury, but he displayed his potential from Week 8 to Week 13," Rich Cimini wrote. "In that stretch, Moore tied for the league lead in touchdown receptions (five). He also was sixth in yards (459) and tied for eighth in catches (34). If he can stay healthy -- he also missed the preseason due to a leg injury -- Moore could emerge as the Jets' WR1. The addition of first-round pick Garrett Wilson shouldn't affect him at all. If anyone, it will impact Corey Davis. The Jets view Moore as a foundational piece on offense. ..." Moore finished the year with 43 catches, 538 yards and five touchdowns as a receiver, chipping in another score as a runner. That's a solid tally for a rookie, particularly one that missed time with injury. 24/7.com summed up: "With a full and healthy season in 2022, the sky could be the limit for a player who had eight catches for 141 yards in a single game as a rookie.'
Elijah Moore 2021 Outlook
The Jets focused on their offense in the early rounds of the 2021 NFL Draft. After making a splash by selecting Zach Wilson with the second-pick overall, GM Joe Douglas began investing heavily to give his rookie signal-caller the best chance at success. First with the 14th pick, OG Alijah Vera-Tucker and then with the selection of Moore at No. 34 overall. As NFL.com notes, projected by many as a first-rounder, the Jets found value with the Ole Miss product. Moore is an athletic speedster clocked at 4.35 in the 40-yard-dash. He's also a crisp route runner with strong hands and run-after-catch ability. A home-run hitter who isn't afraid to go over the middle despite his size, Moore can line up in the backfield or burn defenders deep. Beyond that, signing Corey Davis this offseason adds firepower. With last year’s second-round pick Denzel Mims and Davis projecting on the outside, Moore adds playmaking potential from the slot. Moore's selection could spell the eventual end of the road for veteran Jamison Crowder, who is due $10 million this season. Whatever the case, Moore is a reasonable late-round flier in redraft leagues and a must-add in Dynasty formats.
