D'Onta Foreman 2019 Outlook
Perhaps no Texans player was under more scrutiny this offseason than Foreman following a disappointing, injury-marred year. He has worked diligently to get in better shape, and reported for the team’s conditioning program weighing a much leaner 230 pounds. ... Foreman began last season on the physically unable to perform list, still recovering from the torn Achilles tendon he suffered as a rookie. When he returned to action after being activated in December, Foreman wasn't the same. He was rusty and not in proper football shape. But the third-year man is in position to get off to a faster start this season. "He had an unfortunate situation," GM Brian Gaine explained. "Very difficult injury to return from as it relates to the running back position, so we're pleased with his progress. It looks like he has put in the time and the commitment to be ready to go when we got here, got back here for the first day of the off-season program." Foreman rushed for 327 yards and two touchdowns as a rookie after being drafted in the third round. Prior to the injury, Foreman had shown enough talent that there was talk of him eventually replacing Pro Bowl running back Lamar Miller. He'll be worth watching this summer.
D'Onta Foreman 2018 Outlook
Foreman was originally charged with two misdemeanors stemming from his arrest last July in Austin: Possession of marijuana and unlawful carrying of a weapon. However, Foreman and his attorney Chip Lewis reached a favorable resolution on the charges requiring a $500 fine and turning the gun over to police. Lewis communicates regularly with Foreman's agents, and NFL discipline isn't anticipated for the Texans running back -- although it's still certainly well within the realm of possibility. ... From a football point of view, Foreman rushed for 327 yards and two touchdowns prior to suffering a ruptured Achilles tendon while scoring a touchdown in a November win over the Arizona Cardinals. Foreman has been diligently rehabbing the injury and is expected to make a full recovery heading into his second NFL season. "D'Onta is focused on his recovery," his attorney Chip Lewis said. "He's working extremely hard and doing extremely well. It was sad to see him get injured just as he was starting to blossom. He's a tough kid. He'll be back."
